I finally became a shareholder of Hasbro today when I bought a round lot. As soon as I bought it, it went down in price though. I think HAS is a great long term buy.
Interestingly, I was reading their annual report last night while doing some research and found some interesting tidbits: In 2007: - Walmart (24%), Target (12%) and TRU (11%) were the top customers of Hasbro. - Walmart, Target and TRU plus two other top customers make up 52% of Hasbro's global business and 70% of the North America segment. - International sales account for 42% of Hasbro's revenues. - Star Wars account for 16% of Hasbro's revenues, followed by TF (12.6%). No other line consisted of more than 10%. |

How reasonable was the price? Been thinking myself of buying some.

I don't know. They don't disclose it but it's not over 10% of their sales. I assumed that sales for this year will be not so strong because of the economy, but next year should be better especially with the movies coming out.
I did a free cash flow analysis, and depending on the cost of capital you used I'd get a price target of $32-$38,(10%-8%). Of course I had to make certain assumptions regarding their 3 year growth rate. Note that some analysts have a hold rating on the stock. I dunno, I'm not looking at the short-term. This is going to be a long term holding for me. So I can afford to wait a bit for a decent return. I just think long-term, it's a great investment since they have great management, solid brands/products, and since I've been buying a lot of stuff, I might as well own a piece of the company that makes them. Indeed, after I posted that I went to check and realized I was an idiot for posting that without looking first, lol. I lost $1100 in my 401k in 5 days a bit ago, so I hate the market...right now ;-)

What did you mean it went down in price? Are you talking about the cost per share or the value of the share's worth??
I want to invest in HAS too. Can you show me where to go? Last edited by Agent-GHQ; 10-14-2008 at 11:31 PM.. |

There's always risk. If you can't stomach the risk, don't buy it. But if you can afford to wait, then maybe.
