So I recently had a MISB Centurions Traumatizer show up that I won on eBay and the packing job on it was a shocker- it had been shoved in a box, against one side of the box with no bubblewrap around it whatsoever.
The seller is claiming that it must have been opened at customs, but there was no sign of it being opened and then resealed when I got it, and I know that when Australian Customs open parcels for inspection, they put a couple of their pamphlets in the box and reseal it using tape which states that it had been opened by them for inspection. That leaves US Customs. I know that US Customs can open parcels for inspection upon leaving the country, but I'm not sure what the deal is when they do. If US customs open parcels for inspection, do they operate in a similar way to Australian Customs, by either putting US customs pamphlets into the parcel or sealing it with tape that states that the parcel has been opened for inspection? |

they tape em...you would know
unless you are under investigation and they didn't want you to know you are under investigation. If this is indeed the case its easy to find out. Just pack and ship yourself something next time your out of the country.

OMG they got my Venezuelan too! :(( My worst nightmare. Both have had issues with US Customs. |

US Customs opens pretty much anything they want. If it was opened by Customs then it would have green tape saying "inspected by Customs and Border Protection". Something to that matter.
I wouldn't be surprised that they might've opened MIB toys because you can't even imagine what and where people try to smuggle stuff nowadays. EM

I have received thousands(not kidding at all) of packages from the USA since 1999.
Never, not once, have I received a package from the USA that had been opened/inspected by US Customs. However many have been opened/inspected by Canada Customs. What I'm saying is, I don't think US Customs ever opens/inspects outbound packages, only ones coming into the US.(unless a dog tells them to ) Same with Canada customs, I've sent out hundreds of packages to the US and never has anyone mentioned that Canada Customs have messed with it. I have received a few packages from the USA that were inspected by Canada Customs and there is usually paperwork attached some where outside the box and it is resealed with bright yellow "official" 'Canada Customs' tape. I can spot them from 50ft away Quote:
Usually when I buy something MISB I mention how the condition looks from the pics then I ask the seller to pack it in such a manner that it arrives in the same condition that it leaves in and/or I ask them how they plan on packing it.
