If you are in a bind as far as getting another job, I'd just try to work it out. Accepting his personality quirks will make it better, so sometimes take his comments with a grain of salt.
However, I would try to find another job at another company or group. |

This ma be a long read, but here goes an option:
BE DISRUPTIVE! My boss is a liar. He doesn't have the ability to tell us what's needed to be done to free up money for our raises. Instead he blames us for doing something wrong. He's deceptive. He leads other employees to believe pride in your company is the way to go. Snitch on other employees whenever they're doing something wrong, giving the illusion that he's too sharp for you to pull something on him. The snitches get a temporary "good job" feeling rather than a "butt smeller licker" feeling, think they are the bosses new buddy, then get fired. My boss is a backstabber too. My boss is a traitor. He went on campaign for two weeks about how he is "the people's boss", won an academy award for showing genuine concern and appreciation for hard working employees and how he was gonna meet our needs for a better work experience. Then he calls a meeting where the assistant C.E.O. attends. He blessed us with his appearance to brag about his expensive lifestyle and how he worked to get there without complaining about everything every two minutes and that next time we feel like bitching, instead to just think about him when he drives his whatever car he feels like driving today into the parking lot and straight into his parking space. Jerk boss right? SOL, deal with it until you get another job. That's just the way life is. It's not so bad when you realize you're doing it for your family, come to terms with it and just show up and be productive. Use your human resources for reference on your resume btw in case you didn't know that. They receive the call from potential employers, will share zero negativity about your information and make sure the questions asked about you are kept at a legal, professional level. It's a safe bet because an employer who doesn't trust you will bring the same results: Jerk Boss! And if the employer is using Human Resources to do the hiring, well considering they're interested in you and a pro is gonna call another pro... -insert slot machine jackpot noise here- You HissTankers: My NEW BRETHREN, do not share this information with anybody. This is a source of information that is not yet exploited. 90% of people still do not do this. I'm talking about the HR reference and am referring to those of you who may get the shaft if a potential employer calls your boss. ...dude, I gotta get ready for work so I'll continue later. BE ON TIME, DON'T GET CANNED, HAVE A GREAT DAY AND GOOD LUCK with the work day my fellow tank'meisters. And if you're ready to snap or do something stupid that might get you axed at work, did you see that Ultimate Battle Pack Target Exclusive? In other words, OMG did ya' see that Tank And Steelers Peg And what is says? I'll work for Joes. lol

yeah, if you can try to weather it out. it's been my experience that bosses like that usually don't last long. though I'll play devils advocate and say that there are times where a boss has to crack the whip. though from what you guys are saying seems more to be personality issues...

I am a supervisor and I treat my employees as if they were my boss. If someone needs a pick of cigs, I get them. They are of age of course. If they need gas, cash advance, whatever. Without my employees, I would have nothing. I try my best to make everything cool for them at work. I'm sorry that you guys have crappy bosses. If you are unhappy, let your boos know. Man to man, woman to woman, whatever, don't be afraid to start a new career. I owned part of my restaurant I managed and didn't think I could do anything else. Now, I am a supervisor for another restaurant and I am happier than ever. Don't let them get you down. Express how you feel. The worse they can do is let you go. You should be happy at work. If you can't have fun at work, where can you? Sorry this is long, but just believe in yourself and get the job you want.

Not to sound like a Coperate Basterd, because I hate most corperations, but I still feel pretty content with my job. I work with a pretty small team so we are all pretty close, Boss included. I can call my boss a shit bag to his face and he will just respond with something witty that usually winds up with me shedding a tear from LOLing. We bust on each other all the time, cry with each other when we are going through tough times, and my co-workers all call me when they are in the toy sections at WALLZ or Target to lemme know if they re-stocked the Joes.LOL. But it wasn't always a walk in the park.... I remember coming in and doing Manager's jobs as a CSR, getting passed over for promotion after promotion, which one time was clearly my fault. (Sending a Chief Officer of the company an explicit email will do that ROFL). Still, I had to bite the bullet and keep going, I am one of those employees that works for a promotion through hard work and perfect attendence etc, and the job I am in now opened up. I put in for it and they offered it to me, had they not I was ready to quit. I know what it is like having a deuschbag boss, and incompetent peers. Now, thankfully, I am privledged to work with a smart group of people and have a Boss, who I am 90% confident, would not throw me to the wolves.

It took me 15 years of working to figure this out. Some people are like mad dogs, if you run or show fear, they will chase and attack you, if you stomp your foot and chrge them, they will bow down. I realized that when a boss starts yelling or disrespecting you, the scariest thing you can do is face them, look directly into there eyes and pretend that nothing they say is getting a rise out of you ( I know its hard ) and respond with confident answers. ( Yes sir, I don't know but I will look into that, etc. ) People are as@$#$%ho$les, if they know they can upset you, they will continue, if you act like a rock ( be respectful) and show them that YOU KNOW your better and smarter than them, they WILL move on to easier prey. It doesn't hurt being a 240 lbs bodybuilder either! But really, even if you are 100 lbs soaking wet, show people no fear and they will respect you-trust me.

First of all, make sure your shit doesn't stink. If your boss treats you like dirt, step back and try to look at things from an unbiased perspective: Does said boss treat everyone like that? If not, how does your work performance compare to your coworkers? Now, nearly every company has an HR respresentative to go to in these times of political correctness and unhurt feelings and sexual harrassment suits. If the boss is a lil' Hitler, then you need to gather up some allies who feel the same way and make a complaint. If there's no one who can back you up, then it's you vs. the boss, and the odds are stacked against you. But even then, as long as you come in and do what you need to do and do cause any problems, then your conscience is clean.
It can be a lose-lose situation. All of my former employers, supervisors, bosses, etc. have all been extremely complimentary of myself and my work habits. I did have one squad leader from my first unit in the Army that was a bit of a ball-buster, but he was that way with everyone. And I was in the good graces of my motor Sgt., so even then, I was still alright. Basically, if you can transfer, do so. It won't go away tomorrow, and you'll need to wait things out a bit. If you're determined to file a complaint to make a change so nobody else has to go through what you're going through, then like I said, try to get some others to do so with you. Otherwise, you can always look for another job. I know with government work, you can retire relatively early, and the benefits are good, so you'd take a loss, having to start over. I've been thinking about getting a GS level job - I've already got 8 years active Army to put towards retirement. My ex-wife just got a GS job as a security specialist, and she said if I was interested that she'd help me go through the application process (which is long and drawn out, I know). Anyway, good luck. There's always karma - my girlfriend had an awful boss that wouldn't promote her just because she (my girlfriend) didn't brown-nose. Despite the fact that she was the best employee that company had. Well, a year later after she quit her job there, my girlfriend finds out that her ex-boss's husband left her (because she slept around on him) and she had gotten breast cancer. I think she lost her job too. Karma. |

And if you're ready to snap or do something stupid that might get you axed at work, did you see that Ultimate Battle Pack Target Exclusive? In other words, OMG did ya' see that Tank And Steelers Peg And what is says? My boss is a liar and POS also. Here's the latest from my end: I have two bosses: Little Boss, Big Boss and Big Big Boss. Self explanatory, right? I was supposed to be going on leave tomorrow and Friday from the place to spend some time with my family. The reason why I know that I was supposed to get the leave? Little Boss approved my plan of action and was going to let me go. But, Big Big Boss is going to be in town on Friday, and Little Boss threatened to cancel my leave. I told that idiot that she is superior to me, and should be able to handle a presentation to a superior. She then proceeded to tell me that I needed to report to her office right away, and slammed the phone down before I could get a word in edgewise. The Contractor and Assistant happened to hear the entire conversation that I had on speaker phone, and they were disturbed by her lunatic behavior. I refuse to report to Little Boss because she is an idiot who LIES about everything. She lies so often, that her tongue should be black. Anyway, so Little Boss fires an email my way telling me that I should have reported to her with Big Boss in the CC line. By then, I had already called Big Boss and told him that I didn't trust Little Boss, and that she is a total POS. Because Big Boss does not like or trust Little Boss, he doesn't mind my insight. Little Boss had the nerve to tell Big Boss that I was the one who hung up on her mid-sentence. By explaining to BB that was not true, I also told him that I had two witnesses to back up my claim. He believed me anyway because LB has lied to him in the past also. Anyway, so I confront LB today about her deceptive behavior with BB, and point at her with my angriest voice yet: "You had no right to cancel my leave given the fact that you just spent 2 weeks with your family!!!" I proceeded to tell her that BB had informed me that she told him I slammed the phone down. Because I knew that was a LIE from her end, I even raised my voice even louder and said, "And who do you think you are to LIE to BB about what I am doing?" She was dumbfounded that I knew the source of her LIE, and she said, "I don't have time to discuss this right now." Note, that is not a denial. Anyway, the work environment is totally hostile and we are divided into 2 camps. Those who are with me, and those who are with Little Boss. The ones that are with me outnumber LB's buddies, and LB's buddies include a convicted felon who stole 5000 dollars from FEMA through falsified documents. Incidentally, Little Boss is a very ugly troll. When I say ugly, I mean Road Pig ugly. |

We both know that losers like Little Boss would starve to death in the streets because they are too incompetent to do ANYTHING right. But, some of them join the Army and really ruin the experience for those of us worth our salt. |
