I remember when I was twelve or so (circa 1992), finding a huge comic book sale in Huntsville, AL, where thousands of comics were 50 cents each. I spent nearly the entire day going through those comics, trying to find the best deals and the ones that I wanted. I ended up spending 80 bucks. The whole time I was there, it was like geek heaven to me, and I was excited and sweating--that is to say "geeking out". I was, am, and always will be a nerd (I've got pictures of me at 3 years old wearing Han Solo and Spiderman shirts, dressing up like Superman with my red undies over my blue tights, etc.), but that was the absolute low (high?) point
I guess the second worst thing was me waking up early and getting on HTS the Monday after SDCC trying to get Cobra Commander this year, and all the clicking and frustration, trying to get one before they ran out. What a complete and total nerd thing to do! In fact, that might beat my other story. I have never been so ashamed of myself. Are you going to watch the Florida-LSU game tomorrow? |

I did a book-report type thing in my high school history class on Star Trek.
All the ladies wanted me after that gem.

Well, I didn't take it along to Boy Scouts or anything, but I did make audio cassette recordings of the very first G.I. Joe cartoon series. Back in the day before my family's first VCR.

There was a slow day at work and I spent the first part of the day writing down my missing 25th Joes and Dragon Ball Z powerlevels. Then later I was reading a Transformers comic while I wasn't waiting on customers. Then I was trying to convince this cute girl co-worker who liked the TF live action movie to watch the cartoon movie.

I would try to find some way in almost every class to reference horror movies, Godzilla, robocop, and various other "nerd-cool" pop culture stuff. It led to me being put on the debate team as I used rhetoric and debate tactics to bring it up. I once managed to bring up Mothra 3 times in 3 different classes in one day.
