4-0 now. Buffalo definitely can come back quick. Just ask my Wild how they pissed away a 2 goal lead in the last 4 minutes and losing in overtime. Even though Minny lost that game, it was case and point of one of the reasons I love hockey. Never say die!!!

Just chiming in to celebrate the Wings moving up to tops in the West... finally ahead of the... hmmmm... wait for it... Sharks!!! (my second favorite team in the West). Even though it won't likely last, I'm a happy camper today!
Teams that are blowing my mind right now... Rangers - how is it they are better without Jagr and Shanahan??? I could only name 3 forwards and no defensemen on that team before checking the roster this morning... wow. Must be some solid team play there right now. Props to them! Another overachiever, the Wild. I watched them a little bit last night against Chicago. I probably couldn't name a single player on their roster until I read here that they picked up Nolan (an old favorite of mine), but they've got some serious speed and transition. Isn't Jacques Lemaire the coach who ruined hockey with the trap a while back in NJ? I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually fun to watch them. I can see why they have not lost yet. Just all around solid. They still have the ugliest jerseys ever though. Now if we can just get the Wings to win games in regulation... |

It sucks that Franzen will be out for 3-4 weeks with the MCL sprain. The way things are going I'm afraid he might end up being another "wow, dude would be phenominal if he could stay healthy" like Cam Neely, Rob Blake, Eric Lindros, Peter Forsberg, etc. "Mule" would have shattered the playoff goals record back in the spring if it wasn't for the concussion headaches. I guess that's the downside of being a power player, when you're in the trenches, you get the points but also the abuse. At least Detroit has the depth to replace him temporarily without too much of a drop off.

The test for the Wild will come in the next few weeks as their schedule gets a little tougher. They're playing well and seem to have great chemistry going already. An interesting point is that they have been without Gaborik for 4-5 games now. So I wonder how much better they would be with him in the line up or the guys they eventually trade him for.

The expansion teams of the early 90's started playing the trap. In 1995, the Devils were the first team to win the cup playing the trap. Every team that's won the cup since then, has played the trap. Up until last season, the Pittsburgh Penguins were the only team in the NHL that never played the trap. Due to all the Penguin's injuries last season, they finally started using the it. I agree with you that the trap had ruined the NHL. |
