I just sold a 2002 headquarters on ebay but the buyer who purchased it lives in new zealand. Because i have had problems dealing with international buyers in the past i only mark on the places i ship to as the us and canada but sometimes ebay doesnt save my auction settings for some reason and this was one of those times and i forgot to tick the box for us and canada only.
Now i dont have a problem making this persons day and getting them the headquarters but as any of you would know the playset and box are massive. I plugged in the weight and dimensions into ups shipping calculator and it gave a price of $500 to ship it. Is this right? Can the buyer neg me if i tell them the price and they get pissed?

I don't know if $500 is right or not, but what did you list as the cost of shipping?

That shipping price is definitely way off! better recheck dimensions and weight again!
Also, send it Registered International Mail (it must be wrapped in special paper with NO tape on the box, then STAMPED along the edges of the paper so they can see if it has been tampered with. They will do this for you at the Post office) or it can't be tracked. I have had this happen with overseas buyers on more than one occasion. They see it wasn't sent registered, complain to eBay/Paypal they never received it and they WILL be granted a refund if you cannot prove it was delivered to their address. Not saying this guy will do that, but it happened to me twice and now I don't do international shipping because no one wants to pay the price for Registered mail!

Sounds like you need to make a trip down to the post office. What was the winning bid, btw?

I hate to say it but unfortunately buyers can do just about any damn thing they want nowadays. Even if they never pay for the item they can leave u negative feedback. I would get a realistic quote for shipping and let the buyer know. If they refuse than you're gonna have to take your lumps especially if you didn't stipulate in the listing that you don't ship internationally. Good luck man.

Honestly man, its going to be a MAJOR hassle. Unless you made some serious cash off the sale, its not going to be worth it.
And shipping prices are getting outrageous. Just sending anything FedEx or UPS is unreal high. PO is better, but still a high. Last thing I sent overseas was a large flat rate box to Norway (roughly 11.75x3x23.75) and it was $60 bucks through the PO sent regular with no tracking, insurance, priority, etc. Good luck, you might want to just contact the buyer, explain the situation and go from there. |

1 bid for 55 dollars and 20 shipped, completed search on ebay. I shared with the community because it can help us troubleshoot your problem. By the way I think a trip down to the post office is the best advice two dogs humping is a smart guy.

Had the chance to read your auction still think going to the post office is good advice if you decided to complete the sale. Howevere your listing says 20 to USA so the international buyer should have asked if it was ok to buy the item and should have waited for you to send an invoice. I would email him and tell him that this was a USA auction only but if he is intrested you will allow the sale but he must pay the proper shipping. If he paid already but does not come to your terms cancel the sale and refund him, if he agrees to send the proper amount of money complete the sale. Worst situations the sale gets cancleded then if the seller doesn't agree to canel its brought up to the ebay folks. I would talk to him first go from there. Good luck. Also call Ebay could give you some advice. Keep all emails as proof.
