It's so funny that you can tell the age group of the Joe fans, simply by the actors they want to play General Joe Colton (in another thread). Most are children on the 70s/80s.
Is it just me or are today's action stars just punks by comparison? We had Charles Bronson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, Sly Stallone, Harrison Ford, Van Damme, etc.... These guys were hardcore bad@$$es, killing scores of villains in each of their respective franchises with a half-smirk. Who do we have kicking butt these days? Jason Statham who clearly plays himself in every single thing he does. Very acrobatic and athletic, yet lifeless as an actor. Oh, I like the fights and stunts in most cases, but on screen, he kinda just is there. Any generic muscly dude can do the same job. Sam whatever-his-name-is from Terminator 4, Avatar & Clash/Wrath of the Titans? They seem to be building him up to be a big movie star by casting him in every genre pic they can, but this cat is bland. He seems like a nice guy and MAY be able to act (at least, he does seem able to convey emotion, unlike Mr. Statham), but an ACTION hero? No frickin' way. Which era of Tinseltown Tough Guy do you prefer?!

They are all pretty good, but I grew up in the 80's so I guess I'm partial to that time period. On a somewhat related note, the Expendables sequel looks awesome!

All action stars are wooden. With the exception to Willis and Stallone during their prime. But even they just phone in their performance for the blockbusters. Today's action stars are pretty boys. Just look at Chris Evans. When they start to hire Robert Pattinson for action roles, it's game over! I'm kinda partial to Harrison Ford during his prime. Now days he's bleh.

you forgot Steven Seagal. You remember the one from the 80s when he was folding arms in half before he got all fat and slow. Yeah that guy was a badass.

They all seem like a bunch of little girls compared to the Duke. John Wayne, not Conrad Hauser...........pilgrim.
