Without racking my brain with my fellow Mainers math, I know most concrete is sold in 60 or 80lb bags. If youre doing 11x13 thats 143 sq.ft. If youre doing a 4" slab, a 60lb bag with do 1 1/2 sq.ft. I know this for a fact. So 143/1.5 = 95.333- Round up to 96 and thats how many 60lb bags youll need. Again, DONT BOTHER!!!!! Hire it out man, youre wasting your time. Either that or go the wood route like I said if you can. You cant possibly mix, by hand, that amount of concrete in a quick enough time to have it set up well. It will crack and split within a year or two. Its just too big an area to tackle by mixing 60lb bags. Hell, even if you use 80lb bags and rent a mixer its a lot more than a day project.

Yes, never ever under any circumstances try to poor a slab mixing bag by bag. Ever.
In all honesty, if you don't want to go through the hassle of tearing down fence and what not, and the sole purpose of building the slab is to support a shed so that it is above ground level, just build it out of treated lumber. PVC decking material even. Treated lumber should give you a solid 20 years. Synthetic decking should last you a lifetime. |

Just doing some math in my head - he's looking at roughly 1.75 Yards - which equates to something like seventy-five 80 pound bags.
If I am not mistaken, which I could be. |

You'd need:
40lb. bags: 160 60lb. bags: 107 80lb. bags: 80 That's according to this website: Concrete Calculator, Prices and Pouring Information - The Concrete Network That'll run about $600, depending on the price in your area. That sounds like a lot of work. My advice, hire it out to a professional. |

OK.....strictly by the numbers here. Please correct me if I got any of your numbers wrong, BBB.
SLAB - 11ft X 13ft X 0.333ft Volume of Slab = (11)(13)(0.333) = 47.66 cubic feet (1.77 cubic yards) BAG OF CONCRETE - Fills a 12" diameter hole 6" deep (1ft. diameter hole 0.5ft deep). Volume of one bag = (pi/4)(1)(1)(0.5) = 0.3927 cubic feet. Total number of bags needed: 47.66/0.3927 = 121.4 So, 122 BAGS! That's a lot of concrete to mix up by hand, man! |

Buy 20 bags, use what you need and return the rest.

im thinking of building a frame with that pre treated wood and putting the shed on top. its looking like a much better alternative. the shed will be a metal one and its mostly for storage. the concrete was just to raise it in case it rains hard but it looks like I can do the same with some pre treated 2x4;'s and it will be a lot easier

It all depends, Blue. What time did the Premade slab leave Chicago, heading east at 110 miles an hour?

omg so i was told to check into permits for code enforcement to cover myself and yes there is. my house was made pre 1965 so i may not need it. but in any case they were talking about needing a demo permit and a building permit. she transfered me to the building department and i left a message. really? a permit to put up a stupid shed and take down a rotted one?
got to love california.
