My coworker was talking about seeing coyotes a lot lately. I've lived in Florida my whole life and never seen a coyote so I didn't really believe him. But a couple weeks ago I had a dog run out in front of my car. I mashed the brakes to keep from hitting him. However when I stopped I noticed it was actually a coyote. Then over the weekend I seen another coyote (or possibly the same one) in the same area. Then I seen this on the news today-
Urban coyotes continue to populate Pinellas County. It was filmed only a few minutes from where I work. Anyone else have coyote problems? I live right on the water and have woods all around me, which is apparently the perfect environment for them. We've also got a ton of raccoons around. It's getting to the point where my wife is terrified to go our at night lol.

there about the size of a small bengal right? I dont see why she would be scared. if it was like wolves or bears I can see it but why get scared over coyotes?

Apparently they're like 27-35 pounds full grown. They're kinda tall and skinny, maybe like a medium sized dog.

Several of them mauled a 19 year old girl to death in Canada recently. If they get too accustomed to human contact and begin to associate them with food they can become aggressive and dangerous. We have allot of them here where I live. They have been eating peoples pets. There have also been some reports in other parts of the country of them attacking small children.

i would advice you to get some roadrunners but i don't think that could help you (Lolz). i heard they are really aggressive in packs idk.. my advice is getting a riffle to scare them away. but check with your local wildlife department to see if it is legal to shot them before going on that direction.

Maine has a ton of coyotes. We just shoot them, lol.
Honestly, I have never seen one but they're all over Maine, and seriously - people just shoot them when they can. Most towns are small and people live far apart, so it's not like people are busting off shots in apartment complexes, etc., lol. Cops don't say shit, really. Deer hunters will shoot them too sometimes. Last edited by Cobra Terrorist; 01-24-2012 at 10:20 PM.. |
