I have to say this:
I don't "get" Radiohead. Just like I don't "get" The Office or Joss Whedon. And it's cool talking with people that like music, or TV, respectively. But when I have said the above to those that consider themselves afficionados on those subject, I am roasted like a wiccan in Salem. I tried, folks, I did, and it didn't take. And for those here that read this and wanna roast me too, get off me. Sorry, back to your regularly scheduled programming, andd my Yael Naim. |

HMMM the last GREAT(keyword there)album I can remember buying was Tool,Enima.I loved everything about it.I tried perfect circle but they just arent as good.I have to say I listen to a little of everything though. From old school rock(zepplin,Doors,Stones, etc)to 80'2 hair rock(Metallica,Ratt,Crue, etc)to punk,Metal, classic rock,to even the occasional Jimmy Buffet, but Tool has to be the last really great album I bought for myself that I just loved everything about. What a subjective thread lol.

Jucifer is another pretty good group that seems to fall under the radar constantly. Does anyone listen to My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult or other Wax Trax! alumni? |

Not any currentbands from Wax Trax, well, I guess you can count Coil, 242, Revco and Ministry.
Though I do regularly listen to the Black Box, which is awesome. I gave up on KMFDM when they broke up and magically became MDFMK. Was a big fan of them growing up, but I really can't get into them these days. I couldn't really get into TKK. |

music, especially rock music is supposed to alienate the generations before it.
If you liked 40's big band, you are supposed to hate the rolling stones, you love the stones you are supposed to hate plasmatics, you like plasmatics, you are supposed to hate hanson and so on and so on. If its too loud and crazy you are too old. ...no offense.... (hanson??? Wtf?) Quote:
Now I'm not one to bragg. I told Dr. Henry E. Miller I got to meet Mike Watt (actually on two seperate occasions) I told you Captain STEVEN DePACE that I got to share a Lady Jaye with Bobby Steel. I swear I'm not making this stuff up, but I got to do the same a few months ago with Dale from the Melvins!!
I was a little star struck, and didin't want to come off like a Jerk so all I asked him about the Melvins was "So how long did it take you guy to figure out 'Halo of Flies'?" An Alice coper group cover they have been known to do live. He said, and I quote "a long time". I had a grin on my face for a few days after that haha!! To the original poster. These Guys are right, You might like the Melvins. Perhaps they are more up your alley. This is not there best song, but it's the one I talked about with Dale. Yeah, that's not why they "RULED THE RECORD BIZ" though. Plus you could probably say Metallica has done more bad things for music then they have good. (bad:Make thrash popular and promote crossovers from Hardcore, Make Glenn Danzig's music popular, give birth to Megadeth)

It's...my fault.
Let me tell you the story. When I was a youth in high school, I lived in an awful little town. This was the late 1980's/early 1990's. At the time, I was into what is now called old school hip-hop and R+B. I could not get an R+B station in living in the town nor did the cable company have BET. So I became addicted to Yo! MTV Raps. I can even remember how excited I was when MTV got a show called Fade To Black that focused on the R+B of the time. But at the time, 99% of what was on MTV and everything else was rock, rock and more rock. Anyway, I can remember praying that someday I'd turn on the radio and ALL I WOULD HEAR would be hip-hop and R+B. You see where this is going, yes? Anyway, God did not answer my prayer 'til years later because, as Bill Cosby astutely observed, God has a sense of humor. So, children, the moral of this story is, be careful what you wish for because you just might get it. Sigh... ...I'm going to watch Public Enemy videos on YouTube now. FRESH FOR 2008 YOU SUCKAZ!!! (Yes, I know that was a Boogie Down Productions/KRS-One line, not PE). |
