I dont even know were to put this since its not gi joe related for the wanted section so....
So I got rocksmith for my ps3 for christmas. I dont have an electric guitar to play it. The game claims any electric guitar with the jack plug thing on the bottom will work. basically you plug it the cord in the bottom to the ps3 and the ps3 turns into your amp. So I am looking for an adult size electric gutiar for cheap. Solid body is fine and brand doesnt matter. I saw a brand called viper that makes them for around 60-70 shipped new but if I can find somethng less then cool. I can trade in store credit if you like. Plenty of neat gi joe stuff or if the price is right ill just buy it. if you can help let me know thanks Jason

Solid body?? Dude most solid body guitars are big money!
For what you're doing I wouldn't spend too much, you can probably get something playable for 100.00. Your best bet is to go to a mom and pop music store and buy a 2nd hand guitar for a beginer. Or just go to Guitar Center and get yourself a cool looking POS B.C. Rich Warlock. |

Like anything there are different models that would vary in price but think of a solid body guitar as if the entire thing was carved out of a giant block of wood.
They're generally more expensive because they don't warp or bend. Just like regular lumber, heat and cold effect it and make it expand. When a guitar is 2 pieces, a body and the neck bolted on it can "bow". Alot of times the conditions and climate of the room it's in will make it do this and cause it to go out of tune because it's changing the bowing is in turn changing tension on the strings. Again, something a solid body doesnt really do.....so it's more expensive. If you were experienced I'd say go to a pawn shop and look, this way you can mess with it and see what's what. Being that you arent 100% I would def go to a music store. If you pick something up that's completely in tune and it's making a "buzz" sound, that's called "fret buzz" the strings are hitting the frets because the guitar needs to be adjusted. They can do that there in the music store, it happens...I actually have a 2 bass guitars that have to be fixed. If you were to have that fret buzz happen at a pawn shop, I doubt they can fix it. For your 1st guitar, dont be too picky, as long as it's not buzzing and the knobs arent falling off you're ok. When I bought my 1st bass I literally had to tape the jack and one of the tone knobs to the body.......it played fine. Again, for around 100.00 you can get a brand new guitar that will suit your needs. They have "starter kits" at places like Guitar Center. It will come with a strap, probably a cheap cable and some picks......and it will be sold to you by someone who doesnt know a damn thing about musical instruments lol. |

Go buy a Fender Squire for $120 bucks brand new and have a great guitar that will last you a lifetime and can be upgraded and made better. It wont really lose its value and if you learn how to play and stick with it youll have a decent guitar forever.

im like kinda excited about this game. ive always wanted to learn to play a guitar and this seems like a good tool to help me learn the basics. its getting overall good reviews. I think it wont be a huge seller unfortuantly because its more a learning tool then a real game and its for a nitch group. but i think they did a great job if it works

i stopped into a local shop today. 110 plus tax on a squire with a gig case and a strap (all are used), or my choice of 3 other models. I dont know the brands but all are solid body. 100 otd with same case and strap. 2 of the three are solid black. There was a nice looking blue one tagged at 135 but i think i could talk him down a smidge. He cleans them up and he tunes them. he also told me i can get 50 trade in credit on the cheaper ones if i end up wanting to upgrade down the line.
i havnt pulled the trigger yet. as far as a deal how does this sound to you guys who know this prduct?

There are lots of different Squire models. You can get them brand new for $100 and up. But realistically, anything in that $125 range isnt going to be amazing, its going to do its job and if youre serious about it, it'll be a good starter guitar and get you further than a lot of other POS's that will cost as much or more. If you stick with it, you can always upgrade the Squire (its a great model to start on/with), trade it in, etc. Ive been involved with music for 30 years now. Playing guitar since I was 4/5 and drums since I was 7. My wife is a high school band director and I have a lot of friends who are serious musicians and "known" that tour with "real" bands. Ive never heard anything bad about the Squires except the entry level ones, like youre looking at, can go out of tune quick. Frustrating, but it will teach you how to tune REAL fast, which is good.

$100 for a Squire isn't bad. When dealing with stuff like Gibson and Fender, you're mostly paying for the name. A new Squire should be around $100, but they're 300 just because of the name.
No joke, I hear those First Act guitars that are sold at Target are pretty good. |
