I recently went through a bunch of old family photos and found me some real gems of past Christmas hauls involving Joes. I figured I'd post them here for fellow tankers to enjoy and maybe inspire some of you guys to post your own as well.
This ones from Christmas of 1985. The Big box in the background ended up being the W.H.A.L.E. One of my favorite Christmas's of all time. These next 2 are from Christmas of 1986. Mom did try to butch me up by getting me a football but I was way more into the Night raven and Stun I received that year! My Collection was beginning to grow huge! this last pic was from Christmas of 1987. The Sears wishbook offered assortments of Joes and assortments of Cobras. Mom got me the Joes that year. You can see a bunch of them in the lower left hand side of the pic. I see Crazylegs, Outback, Gung Ho, and Law and Order. My loving wife has carried on the tradition and gets me assorted Cobras for Christmas every year and it truly is awesome and makes Christmas fun, but nothing will compare to those memories from my childhood. Enjoy the pics guys! Last edited by Shortfuse; 02-12-2009 at 02:30 AM.. Reason: Screwed up links....All better now. |

1984. We were poor. I got a Sears wishbook and cut out the pictures of GI Joes and played with them like girls and their paper dolls.
It was really ghetto, but at least I had them all. My mom was able to buy me one figure that year, it was Blowtorch. I remember taking him to school and the other kids made fun of his green sidearm (???) of all things. We were poor, but my mom made sure I got a GI Joe for Christmas. She's the best. Great pics by the way... it's fun to look back.

My mom went shopping with my Aunt and Uncle that year and we had Christmas at their house first, so when I saw my cousin got the Night Raven, I knew exactly what that big-ass box under our tree at home was. I do have to admit...I was a little...STUNNED (had to do it), by the Stun though. I didn't see that one coming at all.

Christmas, 1992. Sonic Fighters Desert Apache AH-74. Looking back the damn thing was terribly out of scale, but god damn did it destroy everything else. Prime, Megatron, Ninja Turtles, Man At Arms and Skeletor...nobody ever stood a chance against my Apache when I played with it. NOBODY. And my sisters Barbies could NOT be carried across the room with it, because it was a device used only for war.

My first Christmas Joe vehicle was the Havoc in 1985. I need to find the pics.
Most memorable was opening and asembling the Rolling Thunder in 1988. |
