Im sick and tired of companies cutting their employees pay. Its happened to me at the last two jobs i have had. Now i understand the need to cut back if it is legitimately warranted...I.E. your company is struggling to stay afloat. The problem is that in this current state of our economy there are major corporations that are turning record profits, boosting production with a lower work force and so on and so on. Now there was just a thread a couple weeks ago about employers asking more of their employees, and alot of people agreed that it is gitting worse out there.
With that said, pay aside, the only difference between these players and say you and i, is that they are in the position to fight back. The NBA is not struggling, and more than likely the companies who have been shoveling shit on you guys are not ether. Unfortunately, if we raise our voice were shit canned. Some times even when you do the right thing they still find someone to replace you for less money. In my opinion, its nice to see somebody take a stand. If you don't stop it at some point itll just keep getting worse. The power belongs in the hands of the many, not the few. Like someone else said, its all the other people who are losing out here: Ticket takers, ushers, security, bus drivers, etc., simply because of a bunch of greedy thugs. Let them go find REAL jobs with their edumacations and see how they fair. Not very well Id say. Most probably couldnt get hired at Mickey D's. I hate basket these days. Anything past high school is crooked and sucks balls. I used to play a TON and used to watch a ton, but I havent been able to watch a whole game in 12 years. I havent even TRIED to watch a game in 6. I cant stand the thought of all these supersized freaks making the money they do with the little educations they have simply because Americans pay to see them play. ONLY in America do we put athletes above teachers, health care providers, etc. |

While I agree with many of your sentiments..this is completely untrue. Americans will put ALL of our pro athletes above teachers, etc. But in other countries they generally only put Footballers above teachers, etc.

they agreed to go from 57 percent to 53 percent. the owners said if they didn't go to 50 percent they would get 47. just saying that's a fair offer from the players they already agreed to take a cut. On top of that the NBA is projecting to make even more money over the next ten years.

Seriously, regular season NBA basketball is like the most boring-est thing ever. LOL. IMO NBA only gets interesting in the 2nd round of the playoffs anyway... they should just have a 10 game regular season. LOL.

Gentlemen, let us be sensible. Who else is going to pay for these fine young athletes and their wonderful extravagant lifestyle? How dare they take a pay cut even if they are making millions just to throw a ball in a hoop. That is tough work my friend. And all those no bodies that run everything? Forget them! What have they done for these athletes?
On a side note; the NBA is the most pathetic sports organization ever. But that is just my own opinion. |

Keep in mind that the players have endorsements from Sprite, Pepsi, Nike, etc. Plus if you are a superstar you get EVERYTHING for free.
(Kobe Bryant gets free helicopter rides to his games) Food, limousine rides, strip clubs, you name it they get it. A 50-50 split is fare enough. Players get their money elsewhere besides playing basketball and owners get most of their money from TV contracts and other venues. |

all sports players are entirely overpaid, its discusting that for playing a game, you can make millions of dollars a year. these guys need to get there pay cut in half, seriously no one person needs that much money while the rest of us work are ass's off.

Well, I agree again, in principle, but the physical games like football and especially hockey (because hockey players arent paid nearly as much as other sports) need to pay well because they are basically gladiators. They use up their bodies for owners and companies to make money selling advertising basically. Id rather have a hockey player making 1, 2 or even 4 million a year who will have serious medical issues their whole life rather than those fat-cats in suits who are all about mingling with the right people and selling a space for company "X" to advertise.
But yeah, most professional athletes are paid outrageous amounts of money. The only professional sport I support these days is hockey. |

Yeah but that's only because Soccer is the only sport worth a damn outside of the US. Rugby and Cricket are pretty big in some places, but not near as big as Soccer is just about everywhere but here.
