I have been seriously thinking about quitting collecting lately. I have been actively collecting since 2000 and have amassed a huge collection over the years. not as big as some of you guys collections but I have just filled my third storage unit and havent seen some of these toys in years. lately I have been struggling with bills and personal life issues and with christmas coming up and Im really considering selling it all.
I'm in the process of my second divorce in two years and my sixth child being born and I just dont think I can handle everything thats going on and still continue to collect. I just dont know if its something I am gonna regret in the future because it is the one of the few happy memories I have left in my life. any advice? |

6 kids and 2 divorces in 2 years will screw up anyone's financial situation. My advice is sell what you have to but keep what you want. You said you have three storage units do maybe try to sell off enough to only have one unit. Good luck man.

one of the 3 wise ass men has answered.. condoms and no marriage, haha.. i love it..
honestly, i'd just quit and focus on reality. i was just thinking 5 minutes ago, that i think it's almost time for me to quit, i got in this for nostalgia, and i havent boughten shit that is a classic remake since it's seldom that something is made, and here i am still buying shit that don't pertain to the reason i started. i don't like gi joe as a whole or a brand like many others here, i like the classics, i love what i grew up on, and since we barely get that anymore, i think it is quiting time for me also. although, i do love the new shit that comes out from time to time, but i much rather waste my money on shit that i really want, like a monkey wrench 25th style. it sucks, because i want to buy the new shit, but rather buy classic remakes, and all i see is me blowing my money on shit i have no relation with. i personally don't know what to do either, bro.. |

Dude, 3 storage units is a huge collection. I'm at the point I am purging my collection and I have 0 storage units. Everything is in my home.
The first thing I did was sort out everything I wanted to keep. This is really the hardest part. At some point I wanted everything I ever bought, but you have to come up with some criteria in order to sort and you need to stick with your decision and don't second guess yourself. Once you start selling stuff and having cash in you hand you will start to feel a lot better. |

From what you describe of your personal affairs - collecting Joes of any era are not your most pressing problem.
Stop collecting for the now and put the pause button on collecting. If the need or desire to still sell it all is there in time then consider that option then. |
