It's that time of year folks. The Black Friday ads will be leaking soon. Post about deals you discover. Heck, the deals having been trickling beyond Black Friday in an attempt to get buyers early. Last year, I picked up the AT-AT for $50 at K-mart about a week or two before Black Friday. I'm sure you guys remember the thread.
Are you planning to venture out into the madness? Are you staying home? Are you planning on getting something in particular? Discuss. Just to get the thread going I will post the K-mart toybook link. It basically covers prices from Oct. 30 until Black Friday. Kmart Toy Book Black Friday Ad and Kmart Toys Black Friday Deals for 2011 |

I never get that time off (I currently live in Canada, originally from Buffalo), which pisses me off. I hardly have any family here, they all live back home, or scattered across the US, but my department at work is small so only one person can be off at a time, and my supervisor ALWAYS takes it off just to watch football. He goes in and secretly books it before anyone else gets a chance to. I mean, wow, no one is really thinking of Thanksgiving in January so it is easy to overlook and remember when it gets closer.
My friend no longer works with us anymore but we were the American Team (lulz) and we would never get that time off because THE CANADIAN PEOPLE WOULD TAKE IT. Fuck, man, just fuck. I would love to go see my mom and go shopping with her at that time but, hey, when you have a supervisor who would eat his own face off just to stay home all day and watch football, you lose. This year, we are rotating supers, so mine is out for a year, but one of my co-workers has the time off, and she is from the Philippines. CHRIST

@ The Baroness - Cotdamn! That's some sh*t. Sounds like your "supervisor" isn't so super. LOL.
Anyway...back on topic...not sure what, if anything, I'll be doing for Black Friday. I can't say, at present, there's certain items I'm specifically looking towards getting, but I'm an opportunist so if a good deal comes my way I'll take it. As for venturing out in the "madness"...eh. Around here it's not too crazy, at least to me. I was actually out and about last year and it seemed very mild. Then again, I'm from Boston (just moved down here for work in Feb 2010) and compared to that retail clusterf*ck, this ain't sh*t. Guess we'll see how it all unfolds in about a month.

Black Friday is the best because that's when even a lot of hardcore toy collectors and scalpers who normally wait in line for the doors to open every day look at all the people standing in line waiting for the doors to open and say, "Look at those fools standing in line waiting for the doors to open... who does that?" LOL.

I have worked retail and honestly unless some store has 10,000 of an item at a great price, IN EACH LOCATION most deals you ain't even gonna get close to touching.
I'd rather stay home. |

Whenever I venture out, I plan on getting a minimum of things I'm interested in. I hit maybe 3 stores max and I'm home before the family even wakes up in the morning. I stay away from Best Buy and Fry's Electronics. Actually, Walmart is not too crazy around me because a) there is a high density of stores in my area and b) they usually have plenty of the doorbuster items in stock. Most of the time the things I'm looking to get are of little interest to the majority of the crowd.
