So last night I went out to a Chinese Resturant for dinner with the girl I'm seeing. Nothing crazy fancy, but not a take out place either. We walk in and are seated and our drinks come.
Just as we're looking through the menu this couple comes in, and as they're walking in they have a kid, I dunno maybe 2 or 3 screaming at the top of his lungs. Lucky for me they are seated right next to us. So the kid is wailing and I'm looking around seeing if there's any reaction and I could kind of tell the table on the other side of me was looking that way. Both of us are looking in our menus and I put mine down and just said "really, I can't deal with this", when I tell you the kid was out of control thats an understatement. My date who is incredibly patient being a young milf and a nurse just rubbed my arm, kept reading and said "that's why you don't bring a baby to a resturant at 9 pm". I'm losing my patience by the second and now I hear the kid's screams are like...echoing and I hear a "thud" sound. I look over and his 300lb mother is pounding on his back for some reason. Like big slow thuds up against his back! No one else is watching or doing anything!! WTF!? I said "hey in a minute I'm either asking them to take him outside or we're leaving, you decide" Just as I said that, my date squeezes my forearm, and is staring like a deer in headlights, I turn around and guy, the father I assume, his hairy ass is literally hanging out. I mean like his belt line was under his legs and his bare ass was sticking out through the backrest of his chair. At that point I was just like, that's it I'm breaking a chair over him. Luckily, the mother took the kid outside and the guy ordered to go....he then proceeded to talk on his phone at the top of his lungs to someone who apparently had a bad connection. Finally he left, dinner came and everything from that point on was good. On the way home I said something like "That guy should be pushed off a cliff." in a joking manner, but then she said "why were you getting that worked up?" I do not have the patience that she does and I explained why I did.....it's rude, inconsiderate, disgusting, and actually his behavior is now infringing on mine and everyone else's right to have a nice meal in a friggin resturant. I stand by my statement that those people were worthless, and if I wasnt with the girl I wouldve calmly asked them to take the kid outside, I mean it went on for almost 10 min of screaming. While we were on the ride home, she was driving...I tried to put her hand on my crotch but it didn't work. So would any of you here honestly, be honest! Would any of you here have said something, or left......when do you get to the point where you take action? |

Women tend to not want to "make a scene" in those sort of situations (unless the moment takes them to do so according to "female logic") so to address the last comment 1st - hence no crotch action.
On the main issue - sounds like people who did not know about the word appropriate. Becoming a parent is easier than being one & is harder for some than others in terms of trying to have a social life like you had before the bundle of joy came along. All in all, sounds like they worked out it was a bad idea to come to the place and retreated and saved you the bother of telling them what you thought, though you restrained yourself as did everyone else around you. |

I had something similiar happen when I took a girlfriend of mine to see Harry Potter. This family seated behind us let their kids sit the row in front, right next to me.
The movie must have bored the fuck out of the little boy sitting next to me because he kept fidgeting and kicking me. When the movie was over I turned around and said to the mother and father. "Did you enjoy the movie?" "Oh we really did." "That's super, because I didn't, your kid kept kicking me through the whole thing." To which they responded "This is a kids movie, what are you even doing here." "It's a kids movie, that's why you set your kids infront of you so that you could enjoy the damn thing, right. Because you know they can't sit still for two seconds lets alone two hours. Nice, real nice." To which I got "Whatever, whatever." To which I responded "Jesus, there must be an empty trailer park somewhere if you are all here." |

I would have said something... as a matter of fact I did once. Almost exact same situation, but no hairy ass crack. The mother in our case let the kid run around the resturaunt causing havoc, when the manager told them the child had to be seated, they made a big stink and sat the kid down... which is when he proceeded to scream! I sat there trying to hold a conversation and finally I got pissed. I am not the type of person that looses his cool.... ever. I calmly got up, walked over and asked if they would like me to take their child outside... they replied no, to which I responded, then you need to! The guy looked a bit embarrassed, but his bitch wife stated how rude my comment was and that I was lucky that her husband didn't take me outside and kick my ass. I told her it was rude to let her child ruin the dining experience of the whole resturaunt and that I would love to go outside with her husband just to get away from their screaming brat for a few minutes. So I then invited him to take a walk to which he kindly refused... the manager then made his way to the table and asked what was going on... the woman reported my rudeness... the manger told her that they needed to leave that their child had garnered a half dozen complaints. I went back to my seat and the father came over after they got their to go boxes and check (the woman went out with the kid) and apologized to me and my table for the behavior of his kid and wife. I felt sorry for the poor bastard.
