IMO as far as toy popularity in regards to collectors... Joes is probably last. It probably goes like this: SW > HW > Transformers > Marvel > Joes.

FIrst off, you dealt with ebay, so I wouldn't say it's SW collectors as much as bad ebay sellers. I'm on rebelscum pretty often and I've done dozens of purchases without any problems. Granted all of them were loose figures so repacking wasn't an issue, but regardless, I got my items without any hassle.
I do think repacking is a huge problem in the SW collecting community. But to lump all SW collectors together based on eBay experience is a little unfair. There are scam artists all over that site. And no collector site i immune. Check the bad trader thread on this site and you'll find some unscrupulous characters. If you want carded figures, best bet is to hit the stores, like TRU. They just had a 2 for $12.99 sales on the Vintage line. If you're looking for any characters in particular, there's a comic shop near me that sells the older lines (POTF2, POTJ, ROTS). It's hit or miss, depends on what collections he's bought. They're around $5 each. |

Beam - 2 of the 4 transactions occured at rebelscum. I've sold SW there for awhile with no issues, but actually trading for or buying recently has been an issue!
I did pick up a Luke Speeder & Leia Speeder at my LCS yesterday for $8 each, my son is going to enjoy those! |

That's too bad your getting scummed on rebelscum (pun intended). The guys on the Tank are much more fun, probably because they don't spend all thier time hunched over a magnifying glass inspecting the screen inaccuracies of each figure. But traders/sellers on rebelscum have been pretty stand up in my transactions. But again, I don't buy MOC because I'm an opener.
Good score at the LCS. You can find some nice treasures at decent prices at comic shops and local comic shows. |

It does suck you got a bum-deal.
BTW, If you're after some SW figs, I've got a few MOC laying around from the '90s. If you want, I can shoot ya some specs later.

I did pick up a Luke Speeder & Leia Speeder at my LCS yesterday for $8 each, my son is going to enjoy those! I have had many deals on RS and only one was bad, although it did get fixed later (Long story), I find some of the smaller SW boards are better though (Banthaskull, Imperail Shipyards, Yakface) as they are smaller communities and people are less likely to be arseholes. Reputations are much easier to check as RS has such a huge feedback forum (simply a ton of threads to search through to find out if you are dealing with a good guy or not). If I am forced to deal on RS I do try to check feedback first. For the rest, I have never understood the hatred some members of teh Joe community have to the Star Wars community, all I can say is there are definatly some cases of limited exposure to some of the worst aspects and personalities in the hobby. |
