This topic came up at work today, and thought i would share with everyone.
How far away do you currently live from the place you were born? Im 35 years old, and have never lived further than 30 miles from the place i was born, Indianapolis, Indiana. The more i think about it, its kind of sad really. but i guess INDY is ''home sweet home'' I know some of you have to have some awesome stories, and also i realize there are some Army brats on here, who have most likely lived in another country. so lets here your story..... discuss!!!

I was born in Louisiana and now I live in Washington state... almost 2500 miles.
Why am I so far away from my hometown? Met my wife in a GI Joe chat room almost 10 years ago and we've been married 8 years now

I've always lived in this area. I grew up in Bangor and then Eddington, Maine, but they're only 15 miles apart. I live in Brewer now - which is directly across the river from Bangor.
I was lucky enough to get my degree and immediately find a good job (in Brewer). The job has allowed me to travel a lot, so I've been lucky enough to go to: Chicago Gainesville, Georgia and Atlanta a little bit (4X) Hamamatsu, Japan (3X) Dielingen, Germany ...plus I've gone to Boston, the Bahamas and Beaumont, TX on vacation outside of work. So, what I'm trying to say is: I really don't feel the urge to move away, I've been able to see other places. Besides, things are pretty good up here. It's a great area anyway - besides the damn winters! That's cool! Last edited by Cobra Terrorist; 09-17-2011 at 08:42 PM.. |

I was born about 3 hours south of where I am now. Ive moved all over the place though. When I got out of high school and went to college, I went 2K away, then moved back to 3 hours away, then an hour away and then to where I am now. In all honesty, I hated where I grew up and wanted to get as far away as possible and never go back. Now that Im married and have a son, I want to move back to where I grew up to raise him.

I have lived in the same neighborhood my whole life. I can literally drive across the street and in 5 minutes show you every place I've ever lived. Hell I live in Clearwater (near Tampa) and I've only left the state like 3 times. Couple years ago I went to visit my wife's family in Tennessee. That's the farthest I've ever been from home.
