Today is September 11th, 2011. Exactly 10 years since the 9/11 terror attacks. It really doesn't seem that long ago. Where were you when it happened? How has it affected you? Do you feel the same way now as you did in the days after the attack? Let us not forget that day of tragedy. To everyone who was affected, you are still in our prayers even 10 years later. To all the armed forces, remember why you are there. We appreciate everything you do. Thank you to all the Armed Forces and first responders. You guys really make the world a better place thru your selfless acts. Never forget.

I can remember I was working for the Water Dept and I heard on the radio about the 1st plane. At 1st I thought it was Cessna or something that clipped an antena.
About 30 seconds later an alert came on over the State Police CB channel in the truck. I live in Northern NJ and my old house overlooked the NY Skyline. I drove back to the shop and everyone was there...called my mom and then all my friends kept calling me. I can't believe how much time has gone by since then. It seems like just yesterday...... No ammount of thanks will ever be enough for our 1st responders and service men and women overseas. To everyone fallen or directly affected by this you are NEVER forgotten. |

I think every American can remember where they were.
I was in school at UMO that day, and distinctly remember being on the phone with my crying Mom when the second tower collapsed. Sad stuff. Last edited by Cobra Terrorist; 09-11-2011 at 12:46 AM.. |

I was a junior in high school. I had just walked into physics class when I heard about the first plane. We turned on the TV just in time to see the second plane hit. Nobody had any clue of what we were witnessing. I skipped the rest of my classes and stayed with my physics teacher and we watched until school was out. My physics teacher used to work for NASA and used to show us awesome videos of things he helped design. When the first tower collapsed he kept talking about how it didn't make sense. The guy was an engineering genius so he knew his stuff. In the days and weeks after all I watched on TV was the clean up effort. It really got to me for some reason. In the years to come I would do tons of research and now I have a different opinion of what happened that day but out of respect for everyone (and to avoid starting conflict) I won't get into them. But I will say it was great to see both Saddam and Bin Laden get put down, no matter what their role was, they deserved what they got.

I had been out for dinner with friends and came home a little before midnight and had been getting ready for bed when a friend called me and said "turn on the TV"
I had cable that had the UK and USA news channels and saw a US station reporting live images of the first tower having been hit. Quite shocking footage of course and then the unfolding events after that made it feel like this was not going to end. Despite the fact that only four planes were being used, really the hits have not stopped for many people globally since 9/11. A terrible day that like another day in US history "shall be remembered forever in infamy" |

Norco Awards in Westfield NJ, its a company that makes trophies, medals, lapel pins etc...normally we had the radio on in our little label production room and listened to talk radio at that time but for whatever reason we had it off, one of our co-workers came in and told us what was happening...sortly after our boss walked in and said, "Stop all orders start making flag labels for flag lapel pins...we are gonna make soooo much money."
I was disgusted. I quit a few months later. |

I was working a late shift the night before (got off work at 3 AM), and woke up around noon, I got in my car and the news was on, but they didn't explain what happened. They were just talking about security and such, I had no clue.
I was heading to my best friend's house for his birthday (which is sept 11th btw) and was picking up something at the comic shop hopefully. It was finally there I found out what happened (cause the radio never updated anything to inform the listener what the heck was going on). I was thinking it was some kind of sick joke. That night my kids were in the living room, at the time we lived near the hospital and the helepad landings went over our house. They were talking about how the air traffic was grounded, but I guess emergency vehicles had to operate, anyway a chopper went over and my oldest gasped, I just said "world trade center, the pentagon, our house, one of these things is not like the other?" as a joke to ease her mind. I found out years later she thought I was trying to say she was an idiot and actually got mad, oh well. |

I was in the military. We locked the base down, and spent a week waiting for something else to happen. Even in the service, people have issues with each other, cliques and infighting. But in the months after that day, everyone was united. When Americans come together under a common cause, it is truly magnificent.
