I live near Tampa so I don't mind routing for USF (plus most of my friends went there). Plus I hate Notre Dame so I loved that game. But I'm a huge Miami fan. This year isn't looking great. But with all the scandal I'm just happy they still have a team

I'm just sick on ND. I grew up in a town that had a real strong Irish/Catholic community for a few blocks. Saturdays were like bedlam outside of this bar called Quigly's Tavern.
I can remember being a kid and how nuts it got for those ND Miami games. The fact is, this isn't the 80's anymore and compared to how the SEC is playing ball...both of those programs suck! I'm tired of NBC airing every ND game and talking it up with another coach who really didn't change much...the Irish were a turnover machine yesterday! Next week is ND @ Michigan, that's worth watching but again at this point the team sucked the life out of me. I'm pretty much SEC for the most part. Bama is always fun and lately, this is gonna seem bandwagony but LSU is just too exciting to not like. |

Notre Dame is so overrated. They haven't been relevant for 10 plus years. I honestly don't understand the hype behind them. Sure they have a history but so does Army, Yale and Princeton but nobody cares about them. It's funny that ND is in the Big East in all other sports but they remain independent in football. Why? Pretty simple really. Money. They signed a huge deal with NBC, not to mention the rest of the money the program brings in when they receive a bowl bid. If they were in a conference, they would have to pay them money to stay in that conference every year, not to mention all the other money the conference receives from the schools. Plus it gives ND freedom to make whatever schedule they want, which usually isn't that tough. But it's not only ND I hate, I can't stand Ohio State. They play a BS schedule, then they make aBCS game and get blown out, usually by an SEC team. I loved watching them get in trouble during the off season. People looked at them as the perfect team and how they couldn't do wrong. Then this comes out and people act shocked. If the NCAA really investigated every team, we would see some scary stuff. When the Miami situation happened, I wasn't shocked at all. Look at Miami's past, it certainly isn't glamorous. Hell the Canes players were more recognized than Dolphins players during the 80s and 90s. When you have 18-22 year old kids getting offered money, they're going to take it. Sure they get a scholarship but most can't afford things like a car, food and clothes. A lot of these kids came from nothing. You dangle cars, money (and in Miami's case prostitutes -allegedly ) they're gonna jump all over it. Not saying it's right but that's just the way it is. Check out ESPN's 30 for 30 show on Southern Methodist. They were the only team to ever get the death penalty. I knew some shady stuff went on but that show blew my mind.

LSU looks scary. Problem is they have a brutal schedule. They play like 6 ranked teams in the first like 6 or 7 games. Like I said, I'm a huge Canes fan but the ACC is pretty soft. I have more respect for a one loss SEC team than I do for an undefeated Big 10, ACC or Big East team. The Pac 12 doesn't look that good, especially with the Oregon loss. The Big 12 has a couple good teams but that conference is doomed now that all the teams are looking to move conferences. But I give Boise huge props. If they go undefeated I would like to see them get a title shot.

You're right about ND.
I mean why the hell would you even wanna go there? Speaking from a football standpoint, of course. It's crazy academics, religious atmosphere, and a team that hasnt been relevant since before the players being scouted were even born! WTF could a scout say to get you to come to ND?? LSU does have a brtual schedule ahead of them...but it's not like the opened the season against a BS program. Is next wk @ Bama? That is the game to watch! |

next week bama goes to penn st.
i think lsu is overrated, les miles is an idiot, and both their qbs are questionable at best. everyone in the sec beats up on oregon. totally agree on the notre dame hate. i almost take more pleasure in them losing than my alma mater (auburn) winning. i hate them so fucking much. |

Ok, turn on espn right now. Miami is playing Maryland. Most don't worry about the game but look at Maryland's uniforms. I'm all for alternate uniforms (I like watching Oregon just to see their awesome uniforms.) But Maryland should be banned for wearing that shit they've got on tonight.
