gonna have to disagree. to say one type of music requires more talent than another, i think, is erroneous.

I don't know, I can play a CD and talk over it and I have no talent at all. Hell I could be a hip hop star. What the hell am I doing here?

if one doesn't like rap, that's cool, it ain't for everyone, but understand it is not talking over a cd. it's music, no less legitimate than any other. i figure you're kidding in this last post, anyway. |

If you listen to quality rappers and then country, rock, whatever else, it is obvious that most quality rappers put WAY more thought into their lyrics and rhymes than any other genre.

I can't agree with that. Yes the "quality" ones do put a lot of thought into it but the truth is if you match up the best vs the best then you will see that they are not quite as good as you think. There are a lot of people in country that could more than hold their own.

And for the record I can't say I hate all hip hop and rap. There are some songs that I do enjoy. Good is good regardless if it is rap, rock, country, opra or gospel. At the end of the day it is what reaches out to you the most.

I listen to every type of music that I can find. The fact is plenty of times I've heard lyrics by a rapper that made me stop and rewind it just to hear it again. I've never had that feeling with any other music. Rappers are always challenging eachother lyrically. There's nobody in country that you look and say "man, those sure were some crazy lyrics".

My 80-year old Grandmother always says "It's not music - it's just words over a beat!". To me, that's extremely close to the very definition of music itself. |
