Well, another summer movie season has pretty much passed as there aren't too many big films left to come out, so out of a pretty decent summer, I was wondering what people enjoyed, disliked and how they ranked with you.
Here's my list ( I won't go into a lot of detail on all of them): 1) Thor - I'm actually surprised this ended up being my top film, but this was a real surprise for me. I didn't go into it with a lot of expectations and this film turned out to be a very enjoyable film with a fine mix of fantasy elements and the modern world. Chris Hemsworth was charming and a strong lead hero as the God of Thunder. Never thought a Thor film would turn out so well. 2) Captain America: The First Avenger - Another solid film, the type of adventure film you don't see too often that ties together the Marvel Cinematic Universe with out overdoing it or taking away from the main story of the film. 3) Transformers: Dark Of The Moon - This was a great improvement over ROTF and a film that really portrayed the Epic-feel of a summer blockbuster, but again violence and special effects are pushed to the forefront at the cost of a cohesive story. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this film a lot but there's been something missing from this series from the first film. 4) X-Men: First Class - Kind of sleeper hit for me, probably the best since X2. 5) Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - Easily the best film in the series since the first, a lot of fun and didn't seem to drag on like POTC 2 &3. 6) Green Lantern - If you would have asked me where this would rank in May, I probably would've said 1 or 2. This film while not a bad film per say is the perfect example of a movie that looked better in the trailers. Ryan Reynolds was pretty good Hal, but this movie suffered from a spotty script and bad editing. I'm not an expert in film effects and cost, but I still can't figure out how this ended up costing more to make than TF: DOTM. 7) Harry Potter and the Deatly Hollows Pt. 2 - Never been a Potter nut, but I've enjoyed the movies, so I might be biased here. 8) The Hangover: Part 2 - I've seen a lot of bad comedy films that are a lot worse, and this film was funny, but it still seemed liked a big retread. If this was 20 years later and you told me this a remake, I'd believe you.

Right now it's a die between Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Captain America. I'd have to see each of them again before I can make my final call. Right now though I'm def leaning towards apes. It was just an incredible ride running the audience though tons of different emotion. I was even a huge fan of the series. It was a very pleasant surprise.
X-men first class Thor Bridesmaids... I know? It was just a really funny ass film.

Bridesmaids is the only film that I wanted to go see that I didn't end up making it to.

I was just taking to a friend who told me Rise of the Planet of the Apes was one of the best action movies he'd seen in a long time. I might have to check that out.
