No friggin way I am sitting through another year of having to watch the Jets and Giants and I'm tired of going to my uncle's house on Sundays to use the NFL package to watch the Eagles....so.....
Being that I pay almost 160.00 a month for Cablevision and it's friggin garbage! Seriously atleast once a week I get a black out or something...I'm switching to Direct simply for the NFL Network. It has all the other channels I watch, HUB, XD, TCM, History, Nat Geo and all the news stuff so I guess I'm gonna take the plunge. Does anyone here have it? Anything to watch out for? Any reviews you have for direct tv will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

I changed to Direct over a year ago and I love it. I pretty much did it for the same reason you did.I have never had a single problem from them and anytime I call to change package or something...customer service has been A+.Also you can do alot of things with your account from the website. If you get the NFL Sunday ticket. You will love the Red Zone channel.Anytime your team is not playing, you can pretty much watch every game at once.Love Direct.

I've had Directv for the past 7 years now and I love it. Other than when it rains hard or heavy snow, that it's great. and I think they are running a special now if you pick it up. I know in MN they had a special. if you ordered it before the end of the lockout. Sunday Ticket was going to be free for you. But I'm sure they ended that now. And it's going to be better than any cable service that you get. Plus it's all in HD.

I have DirecTV. Im torn: I think its a rip off to have to pay to lease everything, HD monthly fee, etc., but then again I was paying for 60 channels with my cable company previously at $55 a month an only 3 HD channels. I HATE blackout on DirecTV. Its complete bullshit. When I had cable and there was a game on channel "X" and ESPN, I could choose between the two. Not with DirecTV. When hockey was going on, Id see my Bruins on the New England channel, NESN, and theyd replay the games on the NHL network the next day and black them out. WTF!?!?!?!?! Also, no AMC in HD pisses me off when Dish has it. Little stupid things like this drive me up a wall. Plus being in Maine we get HARD winters and seriously thunderstorms in the spring/summer, and the HD at least always goes out. All in all, I pay nearly $90 a month for everything I get which is the Choice Xtra or something in 3 rooms with HD. It all pisses me off though. I really hate TV, but I have to have it for hockey, so I want to get the rest of the channels I like in HD. One of those things.
If you are going to sign up let me know, I can get us both $100 off. |

Anybody try Free to Air (FTA) satellite? You get an off brand dish and satellite box. My dad spent $300 for the dish and installation. You get the 1000 channel universe for FREE. No monthly bills.
Here's the catch, you have to download the encryption every couple of days. It becomes a hassle after a while. It worked great for 6 months. Then booom! The sat companies upgraded their encryption. No more free tv. The pirates went to jail. But there's so much money to be made by the chinese sat box makers that I highly doubt they will just pack up and quit. There is a work around to this encryption, but it require more equipment and many hoops to jump through. I passed on it. I'm hoping the encryption will be finally be broken and all you do is download it to a usb thumb drive and stick it in the box. |

If you get Directv, you won't get to watch G4. Assholes stopped carrying that channel. Granted, Insight cable isn't much better :/

Got DTV and it ranges from
a- how many boxes your going to put up-in living room a dvr is a must b-what package deal your getting Good Points It's worth it especialy after hours if u get the HBOs and other movie channels. They show movies I have not seen in yrs. Last night before bed stayed up saw Amityville 2. Caught the last of it. Downfall of Directtv Sometimes the guide can list something yet it can be wrong, was channel-surfing and what was supposed to be cant remember if it was wacky races or atom ant, but they were showing Thundercats I was like man I wish I knew to fire up DVR.
