I currently have a 2011 Ford Escape. It's a pretty nice ride - definitely looks good, but it lacks that certain "umph" and it doesn't have as much room as I thought it would. I've had my eye on a Charger for some time now, and I actually think the back seat would hold my 3 boys better than my escape.
I was wondering if any of you have had one or currently have one and can give me some pros and cons. I've thought about getting a V8, but I've only ever owned 6's. Do you have to get premium unleaded with 8's, and are V6 chargers as much fun to drive as 8's?

yes i scored one in the treasure box last week at target......
I wish they spent more time on the plastic wheels. they just dont look like they would hold up over lots of play like the old ones. the packaging was nice though so i recomend trying to save it. also they did a decent job on the paint apps and i see very little wear or smearing. i dont recomend putting it in the sunlight though, i found over time the sun fades it. they do make cases to display these cars now. hope that helps

I don't own one but I work in a body shop that works on cars for our 14 dealerships. I've driven about 10-12 Chargers. The SRT8 is an amazing car that will throw you in the seat and hold you there. Problem is you will spend about 45-50 grand The 5.7 Hemi V8 is pretty fast too but is a lot less money than the SRT8. Plus it is a better everyday driver. The 3.5 V6 is decent at best but is lacking a ton of power. The 2.7 base model V6 is terrible. The car literally barely moves.
The interior on all of them (minus the SRT8) is basically the same. You can get things like leather and such in all the models. If you have the money, the 5.7 liter is the way to go. Strong performance, nice wheels and a good amount of room. But if you have to settle on a V6, stay away from the 2.7. You honestly won't have any fun driving it.

Well, fortunately my wife has a minivan, and since I work I don't usually tote the kids around, but sometimes we go do stuff together. I had to drive a Ford Fusion for a few days while my car was being worked on, and it was similar to the Charger in its room, and the 3 boys (all under the age of 8) fit better in that back seat than they do in my Escape. I don't have to haul too much, so I don't need much cargo room. Maybe I should go test drive one. I'm afraid it won't talk me out of it, though!

i love the charger, and would suggest a testdrive...
all of them i have drivin have been daytonas/ R/T's, my boys 10-14 are in no way small, but the leg room sucks... im 6'4'' and about 280lbs and i fit comfortably in its ''cockpit'' i have an 05 dodge daytona quadcab 4x4, and considered trading for a charger, but just not enough family room, if it would be just me and the wifey. definitly

Yeah the back seat is decent but not for anyone bigger than a young teen. The outside looks bigger than the interior actually is. Don;t get me wrong, it's not like a Mustang backseat but it really isn't a family hauler either. But if you already have the mini van for the family times than the Charger might not be a bad alternative for the weekends.

You seem to have had a lot of Fords, so why not look at the new Taurus SHO? V6 twin turbo, has 360-something hp and good mileage. Plus Sync and all the other goodies Ford has been packing in lately.
