Of all of the planes, the B-17G-105VE 44-85734 (N390TH) Flying Fortress "Liberty Belle" crashed yesterday. Thankfully everyone survived.

I agree in that they should be in a Museum.

Wow, glad nobody was hurt. Came down in a corn field. I had come to think that plane crashes weren't possible to survive.

The one thing I miss about living in South Texas back in the day was the airshow they would do each year that had a bunch of WWII planes and bombers. They re-enacted the attack on Pearl Harbor complete with pyrotechnic bombs and strafing runs. It was really something to see a sky full of old planes like that.
Sorry to see a piece of history destroyed like that. |

Wasn't really a crash, they landed it just fine in the field. Unfortunatley there was no equipment to control the fire and she burned to the ground. Saw her in an airshow at Michigan where they had several B-17s flying at once, now that was something.
There are plenty of 17's in museums. Its great to be able to see them flying. Kinda the difference between seen a wild animal or one stuffed in a museum.
