I went to a NASCAR race yesterday up here in NorCal. I always thought it was kind of slow on TV unless there was a crash, then everyone got excited. I went with my Sister who is obsessed with it and I LOVED IT!, If you can ever get a chance to see a live race, do it! I drink Bud light so I was rootin for #9 Casey Kahne, my sis is in love with all of em' she likes #20, Tony Stewart because he does a lot of charity work for kids

I've always loved racing, especially NASCAR. It's never been huge here in New York City as it is all over the southern states. I grew up a Dale Earnhardt fan, but after his demise I have been following Dale Jr. I love the fact that he switched over to Mountain Dew Amp from Budweiser because it's easier to find merchandise with the sponsor's logo on it now that it's child friendly. I was sad to see the #8 go but I have warmed up to the #88 now.
I have a funny story concerning NASCAR that just goes to show you how much it is loved down south. When I was moving back to NYC from Florida my car broke down in North Carolina. I brought it to some local mechanic in Fayetteville, NC. There was a big NASCAR race going on that weekend, but I forget what track the race was at. In any case these "good ole boy" mechanics stopped working on my car when the race began and didn't start again until the race ended. I had to stay another day overnight until they were done. What a pain in the ass that was, but a funny story none the less. Just goes to show you how NASCAR is religion in some places. |
