Lody, Lody, Lody...
They picked him up out of his wheelchair and took him down onto his face (with two cops on top of him), splitting his head open for having an open container. I cannot see any reason for that kind of treatment. It's obviously brutality. I am not a cop hater, the police have helped me many times in my life and my uncle is an ex-cop. There is no excuse for this type of treatment of a non-violent law breaker. These dudes will lose their jobs, mark my words. I just hope this homeless victim is able to find a pro-bono lawyer to help him with the case. I will post any follow up information on this case in this thread when it is available. |

Being as I work in St. Petersburg, Florida, I know that cops have a duty to perform. There have been 3 cops killed in the first 3 months this year. One because a cop confronted a 16 year old who was carrying a brick and the kid shot him in cold blood. The other 2 died when Hydra Lacy (boxer Jeff Lacy's brother) hid in an attic, killed a cop, dragged him into the attic to lure another officer in and killed him. Cops have said they're not taking chances anymore because of idiots like this. If this guy wasn't in a wheelchair nobody would care about this video. We don't know what happened before the camera rolled. Wheelchair or not, when the cops ask you to do something, do it. A man in a wheelchair can shoot you as quicky as a walker. The man couldve grabbed a gun when he had his hands near his waste. These cops are in danger constantly. If I was in that situation I would've tossed his ass too.

Yeah and as soon as your car is broken into or your house is robbed or someone in your family is assaulted you will be on the phone begging them to go and find out who did it.

Cops in my area don't do shit for anything short of a rape or murder. Friend of mines boyfriend got mugged, the mugger dropped his cellphone while he was running away. Cops wouldn't even take the cellphone to try and find out who he was.

I think there is a time and place for police brutality. I'm not saying its not justified here, as Lody said, we only got a small part of the video. But damn, that's pretty brutal. One thing about it, you can't always trust the law, a cop, etc to do the right thing. |

Yup, Cops are people and people make mistakes. It just seems that these guys, who are there to "protect and serve" the public, should have some better training to deal with common inner city problems like an open container violation. Two white cops throwing a black guy in a wheelchair onto the ground like that could cause a fucking riot. They only further risked the safety of the public by acting in this manner. You can't go around treating people like that. If you do you will get what's coming to you.

Man, eff this. The only time they give a shit if you are watching or not is if they are doing something wrong that they don't want people to see. I'm all about respecting the law. I know these guys have to deal with way more than a person should but, that is the job they signed up for. It reaches a point (all too often) that they are in the wrong. I was in a situation where the cop didn't like my tone once. I was cooperating, I just had an attitude about it cause I was mad at myself for speeding. Dude threatened to cuff me and take me to jail over it and was getting all raged looking in the face. All because he didn't like my answer about "Do you know why I pulled you over?" My response was "boredom?" So I got threatened to get cuffed and taken to jail over that. And, from the look on his face, he would have probably gotten a few good shots in. My wife just told me to shut up and get it over with.
