MEMORY CARDS for the NIKON.
I hope Im not making a pest of myself. But you've been SO helpful. Any specific reason for recommending the one you did? I was looking around on ebay. Comparing prices. Here is what I found... SANDISK 16Gb SD SDHC Flash Memory Card 16 Gb (Lifetime waranty) - $23.95 Shipped Here is the link - SANDISK 16Gb SD SDHC Flash Memory Card 16 Gb | eBay The thing is, I dont see the Nikon S3100 listed in that auction. BUT... that memory card (I believe) is under the list of acceptable memory cards on this website: Approved Memory Cards - Coolpix S3100 SanDisk 16GB SD HC SDHC Flash Memory Card 16 G 16g NEW - $23.75 SanDisk 16GB SD HC SDHC Flash Memory Card 16 G 16g NEW | eBay SanDisk SDSDRH-016G-A11 16GB Ultra SDHC Memory Card - $31.99 Shipped SanDisk SDSDRH-016G-A11 16GB Ultra SDHC Memory Card | eBay I am assuming "ULTRA" is better than the other two? But not as good as "EXTREME"? SanDisk 16GB Extreme SDHC SD Class 10 16 GB Memory Card- $48.79 Shipped SanDisk 16GB Extreme SDHC SD Class 10 16 GB Memory Card | eBay This says HD Video on it. Is that why its better than the others? The Panasonic 16gb Memory cards seem to be about the same price as the SanDick Extreme. The Toshiba 16gb come in the $20 range price. Lexar 16gb about the $30 range.

As far as the Sensors, which is the MAIN thing that makes photos better quality, they are pretty much the same. Not sure if you understand what Im saying, or the stats, when it says 1/2000, but that means the shutter is VERY fast, like only opens for one two-thousandths of a second, which means it can take a picture of something happens FAST and not have blur.
As far as the cards go, SDHC is SDHC. ANY SDHC will work, but for HD video youll want top of the line CLASS, like the one in your last link. A Class 10 card for HD video is what youll want, because the transfer rate is the highest, which keeps the quality of the video highest. Buy from a REPUTABLE source, because they are EASILY counterfeited from overseas. A Class 10, 16gb card is going to run you up around $50 bucks. I have used SanDisk for about 11 years and only had 1 card fail, and they replaced it no questions asked. Yes, I lost my photos, but I COULD HAVE paid to have them recovered. They werent important so I didnt want to spend the money. Amazon.com: SanDisk 16gb Extreme 30MB/s Edition SDHC High Performance Card: Electronics Not bothering me at all. If youd rather send PM's or emails thats fine too. I probably wont be on here for a few days, busy weekend coming up. Hope that helps. I still say out of those 2 the Nikon will make you VERY happy, and its a good price. |
