There is a lot of fan-based LEGO online activity.
The best blog to check out to keep up with some of the best of the most recent MOCs (my own creations) would be The Brothers Brick. This blog occasionally has blog entries that spark long discussion threads, but the real value of this site is that it showcases strong builds in lots of different themes, and also shares major news regarding new sets and that kind of thing. The Brothers Brick | LEGO Blog | LEGO news, custom creations, MOCs, set reviews, and more! For a basic gallery site for pics of MOCs in all themes, there is good old Brickshelf: Brickshelf Lugnet used to be the hub for all LEGO-related discussion. Now hardly anyone goes there and it's kind of like a ghost town. But it has archives dating back many years with all kinds of info to peruse. But this isn't the best place to interact with people because no one uses it anymore. LUGNET - The international fan-created LEGO users Group Network So why did everyone leave Lugnet? What happened is that many LEGO builders specialize in just one or two building themes. Spacers hang out and build spaceships and talk Battlestar Galactica, Castle builders build all kinds of medieval scenes and talk medieval history, train-town builders focus on their niche, etc. People sort of left Lugnet in favor of dedicated theme websites. If you're interested in a particular theme, there is probably a dedicated website or flickr group for it. Or there might be five or ten. Kind of like um, porn, actually. For example: Welcome to Classic-Castle.com - The source for all your LEGO Castle Needs Classic-Pirates.com - Pirate LEGO Heaven! classic-space.com • Index page I am sure there are strong sites for themes like Train-town, Technic, Mecha, Starwars, and Bionicle as well, I just don't know them. A lot of activity takes place on flickr. This is the basic general LEGO group. It has lots of pics of MOCs of various quality, and would be a good place to ask general questions or ask for directions to a more theme specific site. Flickr: LEGO Of particular interest to members here might be the following groups: Lego Military Models Flickr: LEGO Military Models - FYI, I'm an admin here, pop by and say hello And last but not least... Flickr: LEGO GI JOE and for the TF fans Flickr: Lego Transformers Feel free to send me a private message if you have any questions or are looking for a particular theme website and I'll see what I can dig up. They miss you too - it's never too late to return to the brick ;)
Most adult builders have a "dark age" period when they stopped building. |

There are a lot of fan run sites out there. I personally trade and get my information from www.Eurobricks.com.
Also, we have a few folks that talk lego here, in the mini figure thread.
