I am very happy with how the Eagles did this year...wow, talk about taking care of business where it needed to be taken care of!
Not sure I understand Dallas taking a RB, I guess Barber is gonna go. I also have no idea why the Bills took a QB...I thought Fitzpatrick was the man up there. Either way, bring on the Rams come Sept 11th...assuming we have a season! |

I'm happy the Seahawks picked up a couple of guys for the line... we really need to focus on who will protect the QB before we actually grab a new one.

People who think Minnesota was stupid for taking Ponder do not follow college football.
Ponder was the only QB in the draft that played in a pro-style offense at FSU which means he is most NFL ready right now. Dalton and the others played in spread and other gimmick offenses which means they have to be developed in an NFL QB. Minny needs a QB that can start the first game and that is why they took Ponder over Dalton. Having tremendous arm strength means squat if you cannot read defenses

Not sure I understand Dallas taking a RB, I guess Barber is gonna go. I also have no idea why the Bills took a QB...I thought Fitzpatrick was the man up there. Either way, bring on the Rams come Sept 11th...assuming we have a season! the word on the rb for dallas is that: barber has lost his pop, felix is injure prone/soft, choice is undersized and a bit slow, and none of them are particularly good receivers (yeah, they can catch a screen pass, but as down the field threats). that's why it takes all 3 to do the job. this new guy has felix's speed, can catch like a receiver, and is a 6 footer who is a good blocker (romo's season ended on a missed block by an rb). barber will probably be the odd man out. actually, the best compliment i've heard about him was from a philly publication, which said he was an "eagle type back" skill wise, but that he probably wouldn't be available for them. i don't watch college ball much at all, so i youtubed this guy to see what was up. he looks really good. |

I dont know how people can say the Falcons paid too much. They trade PICS, not Jerry Rice for crying out loud. Pics are usually a bust, more often than not, ESPECIALLY high pics. With ONLY being able to trade pics, they did what they had to do. In 5 years we can say for sure one way or another, not now. The draft is a crapshoot, and honestly, its a joke. I think the draft in any/every sport is dumb. When we're talking about people joining the workforce, they apply for a job and get it or dont. Simple as that. All drafts are ridiculous.

great teams are built through the draft. when you give up so many of your building blocks it hurts. whenever a top flight free agent becomes available, if he is tagged as a franchise player, the cost to sign him away from his team is 2 first round picks. almost no team pays that price. especially for a wr, who will only touch the ball a few times a game, its a lot to pay. plus, wr are pretty easy to find. just look at the league. nfc east: dallas - dez, miles austin nyg - nix, smith, manningham philly -desean jackson, maclin was - santana moss nfc north: detroit - megatron chicago - knox and that guy whose name starts with a A green bay - jennings and company minn - rice nfc south saints - colston, henderson, etc. falcons - white panthers - steve smith and more: fitzgerald, andre johnson, dwayne bowe, vincent jackson, mike wallace, hines ward, braylon edwards, reggie wayne, chad johnson, anquan boldin, etc, etc. you can get a receiver, no reason to give up so many building blocks. as well, you didn't give up jerry rice, but you didn't get jerry rice either. they traded the potential of 5 for the potential of 1. drafts are done, as i'm sure you are aware, in the interest of competitive balance, so all the stars do go to the lakers or yankees....err, wait. drafts are stupid to evaluate right after they happen
only true way to evaluate a draft is 3 years after they happen...80% of the goons picked wont make it passed 2 or 3 years |

based on the previously unknown truths just revealed, please lock this thread until 2014. relax, captain obvious. of course the success of a draft can't be evaluated until the guys have been on the field a few years. we're just some football fans talking shop, prognosticating on the prospective results of the draft's events - for fun. |
