Dr Who has lost one of his greatest companions....Elizabeth Sladen. Sladen Was a companion on the popular bbc tv show as compaion SARAH JANE SMITH and would decades later reprise her role on the new Dr Who as Sarah Jane Smith and later go on to star in her very own spin off (aimed more towards kids). She succumbed to cancer and is survived by her husband and child.
REST IN PEACE ELIZABETH SLADEN.

Sorry to hear of her passing, I've never been a huge Dr. Who person, but my Dad is, and really loved Sarah Jane.

This is very sad news, and my prayers will be with her family. She may have been the very best Doctor Who companion of all.

That's sad, my wife was never a Dr Who fan, but she loves the Sarah Jane Adventures.

I'm genuinely upset by this very surprising news - For people of a certain age Dr Who on a Saturday tea time, just after Grandstand had finished, was the event of the week.
My earliest memory of the show is the 1973 story DEATH TO THE DALEKS, and the earliest scene that I recall is Sarah Jane Smith, played by Lis Sladen, being stalked through the tunnels by an Exillon creature. So, as far as I was concerned, Sarah Jane was there at the beginning - Even after Jon Pertwee regenerated into Tom Baker she remained a rock-solid presence throughout the 'golden era' of WHO - Stories like GENESIS OF THE DALEKS, TERROR OF THE ZYGONS, PYRAMIDS OF MARS and my personal favourite, PLANET OF EVIL, were richer for her character and the chemistry she shared with Tom Baker. And 63? My god she was still beautiful, even at that age. A piece of my childhood has died...
