Haven't seen a thread about cigars, but I find myself getting more and more into them the older I get. I've started to accumulate quite a stock, so much so that I'm about to buy a new humidor to accommodate my growing supply (should I say collection?!).
Anyhow, I thought I'd ask you knowledgeable group of hoodlums a few questions. 1. What is your favorite smoke? -currently, for me it's a toss up between Oliva Serie V Maduros and RP's Olde World Reserve. 2. What us your humidification of choice? -I'm using Boveda packets, they're super easy. I re-humidify them when they dry out. I've heard crystals are great an a lot cheaper though. Anyone have any experience with them? 3. Best cigar deal/unknown gem? -right now I'm enjoying a Nica Libre Potencia. I got mine via some ridiculous deal for around $2 a stick (no idea the regular cost) and they're fantastic for the price! 4. Favorite cigar retailer? -I generally like Famous Smoke, mainly because their "Dutch Shultz" Wise Buy is such a killer deal. I've had good experiences with many of them though, TexCigars, CigarsInternational to name a few. Also, anyone know a good, inexpensive torch lighter? I bought a cheap one and it quit on me. I need a new one but don't want to spend much Anyhow, if you're a fellow cigar lover, sound off!

I once took a cigar out of my stepfather's humidor to roll a blunt, during senior beach week. When my parents got home the next week, he flipped out because it was apparently expensive. I just didn't expect him to notice one was missing. true story. After that, he started locking the liquor cabinet, too.
I wish I knew more about them these days, though. |

I've yet to try those, but a buddy was telling me I should. I tend to like full-bodied cigars, and generally Maduros. Although lately I've been enjoying ligeros a lot.

I smoke cigars, but I'm hardly an afficionado - I just pick up a tin of 20 Café Creme blue.

I used to be a serious cigar smoke about 6-8 years ago. But after a pretty bad/big cancer scare, and a swollen black & purple soar in my mouth after smoking them, I quit cold turkey. I used to have a huge custom built humidor that was 36"hx24"wx20"d and would hold roughly 600 cigars. I liked classic Churchills with Connecticut wrappers but I would buy & smoke anything large and mild. I used to buy Arturo Fuente, Ashtons, La Gloria Cubana, Romeo Y Julieta Reserva Real and Macanudo Gold Label. Matter of fact, I still have a box of 25 Gold Labels in my office that cost me like $240 bucks at the time that are probably no good anymore. I sold off all my stuff and had those on back order and forgot about them until they showed up a few months later. Theyve been sitting in my office for like 3 years untouched because at the time I thought I still might smoke them but then thought better of it.
