If i was to time travel right now back to the 1980s to do action figure "shopping" id do a pit stop in year 1983 or 1984 for every Star Wars thing, G.i. Joe, Dukes of Hazzard figures that were available during 1983 or 1984, and some of the Masters of the Universe stuff. then time travel to 1986 or 1987 for pretty much to yoink some of the Willow movie figures.
Cant remember what toylines were around at the time back then in 1987 besides the Willow movie figures |

Even though i would have to figure out a way to drive around normally in the early 1980s besides relying on my time machine to get around.
might have to steal a car or something to drive to a town close by. Plus making a stop at my hometown in early 1980s to see what it was really like with how packed the Ben Frankling store was with GI Joe and Star Wars and Secret Wars |

In '87? G.I Joe was at its peak and I think the #1 action figure line that year. Transformers was also in its prime. Other big toylines then would have been M.A.S.K., the REAL Ghosbusters, Starting Lineup, STARCOM. Captain Power, SilverHawks, Sky Commanders, Battle Beasts, Air Raiders, SuperNaturals, Visionaries, GUTS! and Micro Machines.

Great pic. in the OP. I remember the heyday of toy collecting, i.e. the '80's. Dedicated toy stores like TRU & Kay-bee toys were great. I also remember that department stores like Memco, Zayre, and Bradless (all now defunct AFAIK) had fairly substantial toy aisles.
We don't have anything like that now, unfortunately. And, toy aisles in stores have been reduced to a fraction of their former selves. Last edited by Doctor Venom; 12-07-2022 at 01:55 PM.. |
