LOL, yeah, Target never had a whole aisle full of 25th Joes. They definitely had their 6 or 8 pegs full from front to back of figures at times though.
I think J.C. Penney used to have toys and a big Joe section. I think that was the store who made a huge diorama with some kind of plastic mountains and rivers full of Joes on 1 or 2 big display tables at a location I went to around 1985-86. Wish I had pictures of that. It was Lionel Kiddie City.

I remember as a kid in the 80s I could find GIJOES at the kaybe store in the mall, at Sears at the other end of the mall, across the street at Zayres and Kmart the next block over. Down the street was
lionnel playword and toysrus. All on the same street. And they were always packed with Joes. |

Kay-Bee Toy Works was where I got caught up on the 1988 Joes after getting back into the line. I think they might've opened that year because I only remember getting earlier Joes at other stores even though this one was very close to my home. That became my one-stop Joe shopping place for a few years until I quit in mid-1991. It was a sad day when that location closed. Looks like it happened in late 2004 or early 2005. I remember when they had the late release of the three 1990s Manimals, or whatever they were called. I probably got a lot of Joes from the early 2000s there as well.

Man, that pic brings back old memories. Saint John didn't get their TRU until '97, but there was always lots of selection wherever you went in town.
The old Sears in the north end had tons of Joe toys way back when. I still remember picking out my Mamba for my 4th birthday there. Both Kmarts in town, Zellers in Parkway Mall, Woolco (which later became Walmart) in Loch Lomond Mall, and Towers in Prince Edward Square were prime places to get them. During the early 90's, Toys & Wheels in McAllister Place was a great source, and I got many of my Battle Corps era Joes there. One place that sticks out in my mind was a little craft and hobby store in Loch Lomond Mall called Leisure World. The whole back wall of the place was nothing but Joe toys, and since it was a small out of the way store, they had Joes from several years back as well as the newest series. I remember in the summer of 1990, just after my grandparents moved to a subdivision a 2 minute walk away from the mall, I stayed with them for a week. We drove to the local Atlantic Superstore (a grocery store chain) down the hill from them, and I bought my HEAT Viper there. Later that day, we walked up to the mall, and to that hobby store, and I bought a Toxo Viper V.1, and Sneak Peek there. One of the best weeks of my childhood. Also, come to think of it, Joes were so prevalent in those days, even the local hardware store in St. Martins, which I live a few minutes away from, had Joes in stock, though they always wanted way too much for them.

I'd kill to have some Polaroids of "my" Toys R' Us I used to frequent in San Antonio, right next to Windsor Park Mall. I'd go there on Saturday with my allowance and see what was available. I remember one particular endcap up front where the latest G.I. Joe items were. They also stocked LJN's D&D line very well, and I loved those. Glad to see that NECA and Hasbro are doing something with those.
