For an early valentine's day present my wife takes me on a surprise trip to an address...this address was that of someone she'd been emailing back and forth with regarding a collection. More on this on the haul's thread once i get it inventoried and photographed
my question is this: is there still a market or interest for vintage/arah/VvsV/DTC basically the bulk of the figures are everything prior to the 25th style. A lot of exclusives from TRU and i've spotted so far quite a few foreign figures. I'm asking because as much as i would love to keep both 25th/me/poc and the vintage...i figured i would see if there was still an interest in this type of figure? |

I can't tell you if there is a market, but I'm always looking to fill holes in my collection when I can. Let me know what's there I mean you might have something I need if your selling them. |

CG Firefly (i'd never seen him and i've got at least 8) many blueshirts the greyshirt repaint (night watch-ish) there are 2 bins of just vintage figures and there are 11 bins total. The reason i've asked is i'm curious about how specific and detail i should devote to taking inventory |

Well there is more interest in the ARAH line stuff and of course foreign items.. (Mainly what I am looking for)
I completely skipped the VvsV and Spy Troops line cause I didn't like anything but the ARAH style repaints. started collecting again with DTC cause they started looking like ARAH again. So with that.. I would say anything that looks vintage (ARAH) will be worth something and the other stuff will be hit or miss. Other than the exclusives and Foreign stuff that is.

I'd say do the inventory, people are gonna be curious what you got, and will be asking for the list.
Yeah its time consuming but its better than fielding each request of "Do you have____" and then having to dig through 11 boxes each time. As for how detailed I'd use yojoe as you guide...figure name, version and how many you have on hand should cover it. OR Just spread them out and take pictures...please divide that up though huge lots are hard to identify who's who I'd say ten to twenty figures at most in a picture let others see them, but 11 boxes could be a lot of pictures. |

Yeah, the price is just down. I've been doing ok letting stuff go the last few months, mostly weapons or vehicles, and some of the better VvV ST and DTC stuff, but it has been going. I still do better and sell faster through modern stuff, though.

Most people have been or are planning to sell of their vintage collections and just stick with the modern stuff. Myself included have thought about this, but opted to go ahead and keep them since the market has dropped.
Sure there will be some figures that still fetch a nice price, but even then, it's just easier to keep my vintage stuff than deal with that right now. Selling pieces at a time on here or trading always seems like the easier thing to do and you don't get charged for any pictures after the first and listing fees. LOL I just recently organized all of my 25th/modern figures and put them on an excel spread sheet. I plan to do the same with my Vintage stuff.. And like mentioned above.. use Yojoe as a reference so that you can list the version and figure out what weapons go to who.. (This is the part that takes awhile.) I would be interested in the foreign figures and vehicles from your collection if you have the ones I am looking for. And I can always use Vehicle parts.. LOL

Definitely take inventory and make sure each figure is bagged/boxed/stored with its accessories. The 2002-2005 stuff (JvC, Spy Troops, VvV) usually only go for $2-$3 a figure if they even sell. DTC might be up to $5 a figure. If you have actual vintage toys from the original line, those are usually money makers if they are in good shape. ANY joe figures who are incomplete will not get you much unless they are particularly rare.
However, the stuff that doesn't sell for much still makes great trade bait. I'm looking for a lot of the 2002-2005 stuff myself. Good luck with it! |
