Comics aside, what are your thoughts on the Battle Force 2000 figures and vehicles?
I've been collecting for about ten years, kind of under the radar with no outside influence. Basically, just collecting all the toys I loved as a kid and could never afford, paying no attention to what is regarded as "rare" or "lame". That said, from the little bit of research (search tool) I've done, it sounds like Battle Force 2000 is one of the black sheeps of the ARAH line. Is that far off? |

I had some of them bought for me by a family member when I was in the hospital, having my tonsils removed. By then I was pretty much out of Joe for the most part, but this relative didn't know that and showed up with some of these. I just remember thinking that Dodger and the other one with the orange camo were kind of neat. But they did feel different, almost like they weren't joes at all, but another line of military action figures.

I don't think that's far off. I loved them because they came out during my peak childhood collecting years but now I see how they can be perceived as not true Joes. Still love Dodger though!

The figures were ok ... but the vehicles weren't that great. And their attaching together was really lame. The Future Fortress, really?

I was about 13 yrs old it was mid July and there was little "junk store" across the road from a furniture store my mom and dad were going to. On a table ,in the front corner of the building, I found: Avalanche, KnockDown, Blaster, Blocker, and Dodger !! 50 cents each! I was over come with joy I still remember that day. My best friend and me had a blast for years with those guys! I finally was able to track down Maverick 4 or 5 yrs later.

^^^ This. Blocker is the only one I could get behind being remade, and the vehicles looked like complete rubbish. They got way too far from the war-toys and into the sci-fi area and I think the whole line suffered for it.
Do a Google image search of "Experimental Military Vehicles" and have your mind blown with crap that not only looks cooler than most of the things Hasbro has designed, but also could actually exist! |
