Since the o-ring is dead, and Para-Drop Flint was distributed the day after the Con sets and extras, would that make him officially the last o-ring figure ever released?

It wouldn't bother me if it were the last o-ring fig. I have 0.7% interest in getting any new o-rung fig, and there's only one vintage o-ring fig I still need.

Why destroy the molds? When retired shouldn't they be in like a museum or something?

I'm sure O-Rings will continue to be the Con exclusives. I talked to a bunch of people that love O-Ring and will continue to attend Cons for this reason alone. This is what started it for Hasbro, there will always be O-Ring in some fashion, limited albeit.

The molds are massive and extremely heavy. They require a lot of space and maintenance. They are also worn out from usage.
You won't find a bigger supporter of the o-ring figures than me (I wholeheartedly prefer them to the new stuff) but even I can't reasonably expect Hasbro to continue to let old, unusable molds take up space and money in their plants. I would be all for Hasbro allowing them into the hands of collectors, but how many collectors will have the money to buy them and the space to keep them? I would bet not many.
