So, a minty Buzzer V1 arrived in the post this morning. I go to pop it on a stand, and a piece of his heel just pings of like a bit of shrapnel. I have heard of this happening, but it has never happened to me even as a kid. I've had plenty of footpegs break off in my time, but never the other way around. I din't put any force on the figure, there was no resistance, so what I am wondering is if maybe the plastics on our beloved vintage figures may now be getting a bit fragile and should be handled with kid gloves? Anyways, I'm off to ebay see if I can find another Buzzer to butcher for a new lower leg ...

Yep, the plastics get brittle over age, also they can shrink. So that foothole that used to be one size is now a little smaller than what the foot peg may be. This is why sometimes helmets split (had that happen to a Starduster once :( ) and why most Wolverine tow cables are broken
All of this is due to factors like enviroment and time |

I had one figure that was extremely brittle. The heel broke like the way yours did. I figure I would just crazy glue that part in and stand it on the other leg.
Then the crotch broke off when I was about to glue the broken heel. After all that, I noticed that he wasn't bending at the knee... so I tried to bend the knee for a different pose, and it broke apart. I put all the pieces in a zip lock bag and bought another one.

haven't had any break recently but thats because i've no room to display them at them moment, but i'll definetly be careful when i eventually get display cabinets.
I do remember the eco warriors heels seem to be a weak point. i had two split when they were new and i was always very careful as a kid.

OUCH Shogi! A starduster helmet? That figure is one of my most wanted and all time favorites. If I had one and that happened to me I might cry. Nah, I'd prolly scream obscenities and start a thread on the tank...

That's how my duke v1 broke. at that point I didn't want to have to play with a broken field commander, so that's when Duke went crazy, and became Major Bludd and General Hodge Podge (my steel brigade) took command of GI Joe
