So i just got a boxed Mauler for £14 or $22. This was one of the few large items i never had as a kid and finding a good near complete one in the UK is hard to come by.
Box is damaged and has the filecard cut out but i prefer loose these days as im short on space, but it is nice to have. The mauler is fantastic condition missing only one wheel, and of course the 2 ariels and tow rope. The two clips on the bottom half of the tank are broken though. The seller was upfront on his description so i knew in advance, apart from that though the Mauler is mint without a single scratch on it. In time i may look for a new replacement bottom but as it's only going on display i can live with it for now. It didn't come with a Heavy Metal but i've got one hanging around somewhere, though i'll probably load it up with 25th anniversary figures when i eventually find somewhere to display it.

Anyway the auction said it came with spares. and did it ever! Almost a full set of mint parts for another mauler.
Now heres my questions, the second set are a slightly darker colour, almost orangey as oposed to tan. This is not sun damage as the colour is uniform and on both sides. Yojoe has nothing on a colour variation, has anyone else noticed this? My other question is the motor dosen't work, the contacts and insides are very clean, has anyone else taken a motor apart and repaired one?

That's awesome Nordland!
I want a Mauler too. I saw one at a shop, but it was pretty beat up and not worth the asking price. Congratulations! |

I haven't heard about a color variation and I haven't taken the actual motor apart, but I did take the gears and everything apart, here's pics and such of it:
Mauler Disassembly - HissTank.com - G.I. Joe I'd imagine the motor is just an ordinary RC motor you could buy at a hobby store. It definately looks like one |

Thanks for that link Shogi. Just to clarify, when i mentioned the motor i meant the whole electrical box. From your linked post, there dosen't look much that could break, maybe it's just a loose wire or a replacement motor thats needed. I intend to take it apart at some point, so you're post was a great help. Many thanks.

Very cool!
My Mauler doesn't work... then again, the contact is dirty... have to take mine apart and clean it up.
