I am picking one of these up this weekend and needed to get a box for it and know that it is rather large.
1) Does anyone have the dimensions with the shuttle sitting down? 2) How difficult is it to removie the blue doors without damaging them of course? Thanks in advance. |

Unless it is sealed in the box the doors can be highly difficult to remove. There are large long metal pins that go all the way up and down the sides and these can rust really bad. The rust can attack/gum up the plastic around the rods and make it very very brittle. Mine eventually fell apart and that was over 15 years ago. It was impossible back then to find replacment parts so I ended up putting in the trash since it was really getting worn to heck.

Approximate dimentions (with the doors closed and the Shuttle in the down position):
32" Long (From Booster nose to Crank Handle) 23 1/2" Wide (From Walkway gun base to Walkway gun base) 20" Tall (from Wheel to middle Shuttle Fin) These measurements are not exact, this is the best I could do with a tape measure A good tip for display (or even storage) would be to get some old phone books (I use two laying next to each other longways) and set the Definat on top of the phone books allowing the wheels to hang over the books slightly suspended in midair. The Defiant is very heavy and this takes the stress off of the wheels so they don't break under the preassure |

my best advice is to get a mini van and take out the middle seats and you should be ok. I would not doing what I did and movie a Defiant in a 2007 Honda Civic coup! All I can say is that I had no idea I was going to be bring home a Defiant and had to make do with what I was driving at the time...
