Though surely there must be more, just not in the hands of collectors. Venezuela has a pretty anti-Western/US government right now. I know travel certainly isn't recommended - could you even have something shipped from there, like on Ebay? I imagine there must be more in basements and closets down there...

There was just a thread on this. They said the Argentina figures Manleh and Shimik are the most rear figures produced.

Well Volleydan, to be honest yes and no (on the Funskool figures). The Gung Ho figure is in fact a production figure, and not an error. The package it was opened from came with a letter from Funskool stating it was "one of the first of many to come", and I believe it was intended to be colored that way. It is unlike any other figure in the line (unlike the miscolored Blaster, Psyche Out etc. that used plastic and paint colors from other figures).
On the Storm Shadow though...not sure. A lot of the vehicle pack in figures in India lacked paint apps so they were cheaper to make, thus making it cheaper to add a "free figure" to most larger vehicles. While we're at it, the "reverse tattoo" Gung Ho is another rarity from Funskool, ins't it? I wish I had known Corey had that one at the con last year.....

Moc figures:
The 1º Brazilian Estrela series ( I just saw one Zap, this is more dificult to find than a De Aço) The Argen 7 figures from Plastirama ( I think there are just two around, a Glenda and a Cobra Invasor) The "Argen 7" figures from Rubiplas (Never saw one) Light Blue Short Fuze from Funskool (I think there is just one around) Loose: Bombardier from UK (this one can be considered a prototype) White Mortal from Venezuela (I saw a few - no more than 4 - but ony 2 with the cobra logo) Cobra Mortal from Argentina (I just saw 3 in good shape) Light Blue ShortFuse/Light Blue hawk from Funskool. I have a question, I just saw one Jammer with no camo, how hard is to get this one???Is this one an error from Palitoy?? |

Any version of Jammer or Gaucho are very hard to find, even in England. All the Action Force variations are easy enough to find with a little patience. Moondancer and Dolphin are a bit harder to find but turn up now and then. Jammer and Gaucho very rarely turn up.

The "no camo" Jammer comes up about once a year or so. Last time it sold, it brought somewhere around $600 IIRC.
Another rare UK variant that brings a lot of cash is the Crimson Guard Immortal with Rock Viper head. Also, there is a variant of Kangor that was released in Brazil that came with black gloves.....super-rare. There was a "Cobra Command Set" released in Canada through their version of Sears (I think) that there is only one known boxed example. I haven't thought about it in a long time, but I think it was a Stinger and ASP two pack, similar to how Sears did the VAMP/HAL set in the US.

Volleydan - i forgot about the CGI varient and you are right that is rare.
I've only ever seen one for sale, about 2 years ago on ebay. The seller i think was from denmark and went for around $150 if i remember right.

I am not aware of the Kangor with black gloves, only the variant of white Cobra symbol on gloves vs. black cobra symbol on gloves.
Also, there are at least 4 Light Blue Short fuse figures out there (I have one MOC, and know of 2 others that have them). ps. I bought that from Corey at the show as he was pulling them out of his van. He and I had spoken before the show and planned it that way. I ended up getting about 900.00 worth of MOC funskool from him there, which really made the trip worth it!! pps. The no camo Jammer figure is quite rare. I ended up with my sealed in baggie one a few years ago, but only know of less than 10 in collectors hands (and some are definately not mint). Last edited by Dryhawk37; 12-10-2009 at 03:45 PM.. |
