Released in spring 1985 as part of Series 4.
SILENT WEAPONS Code Name: QUICK KICK File Name: Ito, MacArthur S. SN: RA 631-42-7104 Primary Military Specialty: Infantry Secondary Military Specialty: Intelligence Birthplace: Los Angeles, California Grade: E-4 Subject's Japanese father and Korean mother owned a grocery store in Watts. Not accepted by either the Japanese or Koreans because of his mixed ancestry and too short to play basketball, Quick Kick turned to martial arts. All martial arts. He is a ranking black belt in Tae Kwan Do, Go Ju Ryu, Southern Praying Mantis Kung-Fu, Tai-Chi Sword, Zen Sword, and Wing-Chun. He was working as a stunt man in Hollywood when he was recruited for the G.I. Joe team. Qualified expert: All NATO and Warsaw Pact small arms. "Here's the situation. You want to gain access to a fortified villa. Twelve foot tall continuous wall topped with razor-spiral and only one gate through it. Two inch steel plate on the gate, two sand-bagged guard houses with direct telephone link to the main house, four guards with submachine guns, two Dobermans and a silent alarm hooked to a deadman's switch that one of the guards is leaning on at all times. How to do it? Have Quick Kick hit it, that's how!" ![]() ![]() ![]() Please vote (on a scale of 1 to 10 with a 10 being the absolute best the line has to offer) on the figure's design, sculpt, paint deco, accessories and overall appeal. Yo Joe!!! **All photos are courtesy of 3DJoes.com

i went from 4 to 5 to 8 and hit submit.
he's great for 1985. outside of that i dont use him. i think i have a funskool one. i dont even use his parts for customs. when super7 started reaction and before people dissected what flynn meant about "1985" sculpts, my initial idea was reaction+ was going to look like flint and quick kick. honestly, flint and quick kick are the first two characters i think of when 1985 comes up. he fit a foil for stormshadow on the cartoon more than spirit. spirit is corny to me. i dont have really anything bad to say about him or anything really good. tell you what though when gijoe came back in the new sculpt era with nunchuck that looked exactly like quick kick - they should have just gone with quick kick. also with the explosion of ninjas in the 90's thanks to hama, quick kick seems like he was forgotten or ignored. pretty dumb not to have him involved; and/or toss him into the back and make up dumb as shit surf ninja dudes named tjbang. i think i would have been into him more if it were not for the ninja explosion and they made more of him. he could use a v2 o-ring; just not in a karate ghi and barefoot. those are training clothes. I am going to have to come up with a realistic way to rate these because this is too much potential fun to just "10" everything. I think I'll determine my favorite and least favorite figures, figure out why, and measure each one against those. Something like that.
My point here is I love Quick Kick and he is essential to my Joe collection, but he is not a "10". |

A difficult one for me to rate. He's designed after Bruce Lee and he was a pretty iconic character in the cartoon. These things are awesome. The sculpt is also decent for 1985, and his personality (along with others that year) really helped broaden G.I. Joe beyond just being "green army men."
However, while I can forgive the lack of shirt, no shoes is just silly. |

Probably would have given him a 10 if I had him as a kid. I remember really wanting him in 1985. My older brother's best friend had him and it was great I got to play with him a few times then.

I gave him a 10. I loved this figure, as a kid. One of my favourites to play with.

Going off of voting, this is the first legit hit/fan-favorite figure we've covered so far.

10. I don't even care about the feet, even today. Either because of the cartoon or just how deep into the line I was in 1985 he got a LOT of adventuring time with my team. I remember being particularly happy (unreasonably so, I think now) that he used nunchucks. GI Joe could *finally* stop Storm Shadow from nunchucking everyone so one-sidedly.
Not that I wouldn't give *most* figures from these years a 10, but Quick Kick stands out in particular as a figure I still love today primarily because of how awesome I thought he was back then. I still think he's awesome. |

I love just about everything about QK design. The bare feet and chest. The colors. A great figure from a great year.

8 for me. Such a simple design, but one that pops. The toy was one I always wanted as a kid and I loved when he showed up in the cartoon. Before really reading the comics and know all the lore, Quick Kick was THE martial artist of the Joe team for me.
