I switched Duke and Dusty in the alphabetical order, so that I could get all three Duke versions on the same poll.
Part 4, of the Joe vs. Cobra polls, is a little bit more difficult to pick, as none of the figures looks particularly good. I chose to go with General Tomahawk, as his design is the best, in my opinion, of these ten figures. Duke (v9) - Not good. BAD.
Duke (v10) - Desert BAD. Duke (v11) - Much better but with issues. Chest holsters were too much and I guess he cross draws both like a comic book character. Still seems rather awkward. Ankle pins were flesh colored. Firefly (v6) - another odd double holster design. pin head frowny face. Flint (v7) - What's NOT wrong with this figure. Frostbite (v4) - I recall Adam West Arctic Batman was what peeps called it. The molded shoulder armor restricts too much posing. Frostbite (v6) - Forest Adam West Batman? General Tomahawk (v2) - Hawk got his tan back but still got a flat back. Gung-Ho (v8) - The cliched bald bad dude with a goatee look that every guy tried back then. Gung-Ho (v9) - There was clean shaven one I never owned or saw. Probably would've dislike it slightly less, because he could be used a new character. |

firefly was the second figure at the foot of my bed waiting for me to wake up from my 3rd hernia operation. i was in college and picked up a printer paperbox the wrong way at my work study job at ucf and i felt a weird, but familiar feeling in my lower body.
turns out it was a hernia. i'd had 2 before i was 6. not even a year after this last operation i was throwing printer paperboxes over my head filling up trucks for ups. |

The first wave of this new line wasnt great, limited articulation but i went all in as i was looking for new joes to collect and as new waves came out the figure got better, this particular list had some of the least favorite, so went with Firefly, as it was new look for the character

Ugly Hawk I guess. None of these are good.

I remain irrationally angry about this era of Joe.

It's not irrational to hate a bunch of ugly AF figures with bad sculpting.

I agree. While there were many gems sprinkled in among those years, for the most part, every wave just hammered home the fact that the o-ring revival (which had just brought me back in during the 2000 RAHC) was already over.
I dutifully bought them for awhile, more out of newfound addiction than anything else, before ultimately giving them all to a really bratty, undeserving neighbor kid, and focusing solely on ARAH for the next 15 or so years. I was in fact so let down that I unfairly judged and skipped 25th-50th while they were at retail. I have to admit though, some of the later stuff (mostly VvV) was actually half decent.
