Jesus, there are a lot of Joe vs. Cobra figures! Granted, a lot of them are repaints, but it's insane how many figures they ended up releasing for the first wave of this series... about as many as we ever had, in a single wave, during the height of the A Real American Hero series. The Joe vs. Cobra series was a mix of O-ring and more modern sculpt and design and the scale reflected this, as the more modern sculpted figures generally had thicker torsos and toothpick legs. The O-rings had their own problems, with some sporting Beetlejuice-in-the-waiting-room-sized heads.
For this poll, I'm giving my vote to the BAT, as they always look pretty good and this one is no different. The two Alley Vipers offered also looked pretty cool, but I'm a sucker for the BAT. I really wish you had separated classic o-ring figures like Big Ben and Alley Viper from the "New Sculpt" figures. Even if they were all sold under the Joe vs. Cobra heading, the figure types are just too different to compare.
I will always vote for a classic o-ring figure in these, and my vote goes to Alley Viper v6 here. However, of the New Sculpt figures, the B.A.T. is pretty good. The others, sadly, are all trash. Especially the super-lanky Scarlett and the bow-legged Beachhead. Ugh. |

Agent Scarlett (v1) - Awkward figure, doesn't she have one swivel thigh and not the other.
Agent Scarlett (v2) - same Baroness (v4) - Had potential then Takara made her an anime librarian cosplayer Beach Head (v4) - Great head sculpt, not so great body. Another Takara sculpt, IIRC. Big Ben (v4)- Good. So common that most overlook it. Big Ben (v5) - Almost better than V4 BUT this is when the skin tone goes from deep tan to waxy and stays that way for most of the o-rings. Blowtorch (v2) - Great Duke head sculpt...for Blowtorch. Okay character design, but terrible sculpt. Cobra Alley Viper (v5) - I liked them even with Duke legs. I don't like them as much now because their aging badly, yellowing and knees no longer moving on some. Cobra Alley Viper (v6) - They cheaped out and didn't make the visor or shield red, but he's pretty good. Cobra B.A.T. (v3) - Could've been a winner, but no swivel arms. I don't care for the reasons why. Nothing aesthetically can make up for their absence. |

In some of these 2002 polls it is really hard to decide, because everything is really bad. In this one though, there's several good looking repaints. Big Bens and Alley Vipers are the standouts.

i had my 3rd hernia operation this year, while i was in college. after i came out of anesthesia i was flirting up a storm with the cute nurse. at the end of my bed when i was finally sober from it all, the scarlett and firefly packs were there.
i may have gotten rid of every single new sculpt figure from this time, but i've kept those 4 figures and barrel roll. |

Big Ben V4 because the colors are good and he has the best loadout. The red Alley Viper would have won if it didn't have that terrible Paoli pistol.
