It's tough to be asking this question to old people who were little kids in the early 1980s. I barely remember what my first GI Joe figure was exactly but I still remember when I was 2 of course back in 1982 I know Battle armor He Man was my first action figure.
G.I. Joe it was probably Rock and Roll and one of those play and wear G.I. Joe helmets and walkie talkies to make it look like you were dressing up as Rock and Roll or whatever. Tough question to be asking those where too young back in 1982 to even remember what our first action figure/figures were back then My first GI Joe figure in Joe colours was 1.5 swivel-arm Grunt which I got as the AF mail-away figure, Infantryman. My first Hasbro-produced figures were SAS Force Stalker with the Panther, Z-Force Quarrel with the Rapid Fire Bike and Z-Force Steeler with the Battle Tank. My first figures with the correct names were Flint, Footloose and a Cobra Trooper from our 1987 releases. All, of course, sold as 'Action Force'. |

Well its really not a fair question to ask this type of question for those were just 1 year old in 1981 even 2 years old during 1982 where I and others were pretty much too damn young. First GI Joe figure I have no frikkin clue but it was probably Rock and Roll I guess. then came along with Return o the Jedi in 1983 that's when I was really into action figures from star wars to gi Joe, Transformers and some of those wacky Universal Monsters stuff from the Christmas catalogs

My first figures were Rock 'n Roll, Cobra Soldier, and the RAM back in '82!

I'm pretty sure my first was 1985 Bazooka. Either him or Alpine, because I have no memory of one without the other.

Cobra officer, major bludd and ram cycle. But didn’t really get interested until a couple years later. Was interesting, I remember seeing all the figures, and most were a boring green as I don’t think Scarlett and snake eyes were on the pegs. I thought boring, until I saw the cobras.

'82 Breaker out of the Sears aisle (Sunrise Mall in Massapequa, NY!). It helped that he didn't come with a realistic looking gun. Grunt later the same year.

My first GI Joes were Flint and the Armadillo from a Target in Iowa. I really wanted a tank, and my parents pointed out the smaller tank has four guns and the bigger tank only has one gun. Well played, parents. I later got the Mauler, too, and those two vehicles are still my favorites to this day.

V1 snake eyes & flash were my first got em @ my parents/dads newstand/bookstore in cbus ohio dint feel good that day my mom was on a work trip so dad took me to work .. he had bought them the day before and had forgotten them @ work , we came in and they were in his office so my day was better immediately . After that it was on and since he was a military man it was an easy win for him .. but even before joes i had super joe some smurfs ,play mobil, lego , hot wheels whatever the new toy was @ the time .
I did have this actual playset it was a large white flat bottom boat about 18 “ or so long by maybe 6” wide it had a carboard deep sea backdrop and a really odd aqua blue base w/coral and etc molded into it the ship sat on top of 3 poles that went went behind the backdrop and the whole thing was maybe almost 2 ft tall it also came w/some divers and plastic underwater critters . The base was raally detailed for the 70’s i believe is when i got that maybe early 81-82 i had the boat forever my son played with it when be was young till it finally fell apart .. anyone know the name of the playset i havent thought about it this much in over 15 years .. it was really great for its time and used that ship in 2 actual oceans and lake erie and the gulf of mexico along with a few pools .. it was a great playtoy

As to the question at hand, my first was the '86 Viper, and I was in, hook, line, and sinker from then on. I always flirted with other lines after that, but Joe was a constant until the line died in '94.

1982 Short-Fuze. Can't remember the store, it was either Kmart or Two Guys.
