Finally found a Defiant!

My buddy delivered the Defiant to me yesterday. It's even more beautiful than I had anticipated! I mean it blows my mind how on earth a box this big survived all these years in flawless condition before someone finally had it graded. It wasn't always inside the acrylic case which would've protected it indefinitely-that only happened recently upon grading. So the fact this thing is from 1987 & survived all those years with a mint condition box really, truly amazes me!
I think alot of its surviving so beautifully all these years has to do with the fact that it was originally owned by a Hasbro employee who worked on GI Joe toys. He didn't take this thing home in '87 & stick it in the basement or garage no sir! He kept it in a guest bedroom covered up with bed sheets because he appreciated it for what it was. This was the ONE thing I wanted for Christmas that year but sadly I never got. I was 10. Even though I never got one whenever I think of Christmas '87 I think of THIS toy. This is my grail. Yo Joe!!

I don't give a shit what anyone else says. It's art. It has hidden potential, incredible design and illustrations. Then there's the intrinsic. Imagine a time when something this MASSIVE was sold (AND SOLD OUT) at a retail store. I sold all of my ARAH stuff several years ago. No regrets. And I don't collect any AFA stuff. But AFA ARAH items are favorite things to see. And you always share the best of the best. LOVE these posts.

I look forward to your posts of this stuff. People SHOULD be more excited about it. It's the ultimate nostalgia kick to a large degree. Where else are we going to see what this stuff looked like in stores? White, fresh and clean.

It the age old philosophical question,"If a tree falls in the woods and no one is a around to hear it does it sound like a goat being strangled while a hillbilly has his way with it?"
