This is absolutely the venue for this sort of thing. This is a joe board, and people want to see cool things. Thanks for sharing that is absolutely wow.
I noted you had other vintage graded vehicles. Can I ask if you do graded figures too, and any modern stuff graded or am I prying? Thanks again for sharing as that?s a wow! I mean there can?t be many Flagg graded No, it isn't prying. I do have graded figures but actually just auctioned the majority of them off at Hakes. I kept 20 or so ( ballpark number) figures that meant the most to me-one's I played with when I was little and sold the rest because they were ticking time bombs & once the O ring goes it's very hard to get decent money for sealed/carded graded figures. I kept the graded ones that I played with growing up though. When the O rings eventually go on them I won't care because the card art reminds me of being in Toys R us, playing with those specific figures at home, etc. I don't have much modern stuff that's graded. I really only have 1 thing modern that's graded-a eaglehawk.

What I meant was that most people in here frown at graded stuff but there are others who appreciate it so I post for them.

I look forward to your posts of this stuff. People SHOULD be more excited about it. It's the ultimate nostalgia kick to a large degree. Where else are we going to see what this stuff looked like in stores? White, fresh and clean.
I don't give a shit what anyone else says. It's art. It has hidden potential, incredible design and illustrations. Then there's the intrinsic. Imagine a time when something this MASSIVE was sold (AND SOLD OUT) at a retail store. I sold all of my ARAH stuff several years ago. No regrets. And I don't collect any AFA stuff. But AFA ARAH items are favorite things to see. And you always share the best of the best. LOVE these posts. It's funny. My buddy who brought this to me on Sunday said the very same thing-that it's art. It's not the kind you frame & hang on the wall but it's still art nonetheless. And Grading is just a way to preserve that art... To me the box art of a Defiant is better than a Picasso. I can stare at the box & be transported right back to being 10 years old drooling over this thing in Toys R us. We had the best toys growing up & it's sad those days are long gone because they just don't make stuff this cool anymore. Thanks again for the feedback.

OUUUUCH. I didn't even consider that. So, one could buy an AFA figure that appreciates by 1000 bucks and could pick it up one day and the value has cratered. Wild. Before long, there won't be ANY carded figures intact. SO weird to think about.

I dunno man, the people who grade for AFA take their job very seriously. It's why AFA is the 'gold standard' when it comes to toy Grading companies. They can look at factory tape under special CSI type lighting and pretty much know if a box has been opened and resealed. If the tape on any particular box is questionable then they automatically open it and inspect the contents to verify everything is there & unused before giving it a "Q" grade or Qualified scale which would be a blue sticker.
If they're satisfied the tape is original & box still factory sealed then they just proceed to grade it without opening the box. It then gets a red sticker with a grade or 'red label'. But yeah anything is possible I guess. If it's full of ponies then I guess I'll have the market cornered on them

Not to derail your thread but I wonder if they have an in-house sonogram or ultrasound machine? Seems like that would be a must.

One with the same grade but broken O ring brought only about $1,500 or $2,000 at auction. Once the O ring goes most people don't want them. But on the other hand there are collectors who don't care about broken O rings and still have a nice factory carded figure to display for a fraction of the price.

Yeah. I'll give you an example: a V1 Snake Eyes graded 85 recently sold for $12k.

That's how I collect anyway. I just try & obtain figures or vehicles I had growing up or ones I wanted for Christmas but never got like the Defiant. So yeah just collect the figures you want & don't worry about the O rings because it WILL happen eventually but when it does so what you still have figures in their original packaging & can always look at the card art too!

Just collect the ones you had as a little boy. No need to collect each & every figure if you don't have the room. And if you just collect the ones you have memories of your collection will be alot more meaningful to you.
