Well, the Battle Platform sunk the Flagg in the last Definitive poll. I'm pretty sure that vote was rigged, so I'll be boosting security for the 1986 polls! lol
A lot of good stuff in 1986, including my absolute favourite Cobra vehicle of all-time, the Night Raven! Therefore it's no surprise that I chose the Night Raven as the best vehicle/playset of 1986. Mine was still in pristine condition, with no missing parts, when I sold it at a garage sale for about 20 bucks. That is more than it initially cost at retail, but still a lot less than I would have gotten for it if I sold it now. Of course, that's a reoccurring theme for all of my G.I. Joe vehicles. After hearing my dad lament about his mother throwing out all his baseball cards from the late 40s and throughout the 50s, I should've known better. Ah well. i was going to vote for the terror drome but the swing doors are always broken, and with prices as stupid high as they are now mine is never going to be completed.
so i went with the conquest, which was the first gijoe vehicle since i picked gijoe back up in 2000 that i was able to complete completely by accident. it was bizarre how when i got a shell that pieces to it just manifested in my apartment having not ordered them (because iw as a poor college kid) and they did not come with the shell - which in of itself was an afterthought to with what i wanted that i cant remember what that was. my third vote would have been the recon sled because that thing is weird as it is cool. |

Its no contest, Terrordrome, as a kid i loved this thing, it had so much playable areas, and could hold tons of troops, growing up my parents were divorced around this time and my mom did the best she could for my brother and i and at that time G.I. joe was rather inexpensive, you could get alot for $10, but for christmas she would go to childrens palace and they had layaway and she would get us one big thing each year and this was what she got me and i wish i still had it, sold it off in the 90s for next to nothing.

Can't choose, I would go with the Night Raven over the Terrordrome itself, but it has the Firebat, which his kind of become my favorite air vehicle over time.

I agree there, I had the nightraven but ended up using the firebat way more due to its size and armament, i never had a Rattler so the Firebat was the perfect size aircraft.

Damn, '86 was a really good year for vehicles. Not sure who to vote for, but I'm leaning towards either the Night Raven, the Tomahawk. the Terror Drome or the Stun. The Triple T and Thunder Machine (pt2 poll) are also favorites from '86.

Voted Terror Drome. I have never owned it. One day.
The Tomahawk had the most play value from '86 when I was a kid.

I had the NR, conquest, Havoc, and Tomahawk from this year. Even though I fell in love with the NR as soon as I opened the box, the Tomahawk got played with the most, and involved the most figures with olay. That's why I voted the Tomahawk.

The Tomahawk is a cool vehicle, but the rotor blades droop and I think it just takes up too much of a footprint in my display area. I didn't have one as a kid, but if I did, I imagine I would have found it a little cumbersome to play with much. As far as Joe helicopters, I prefer the Dragonfly.
I voted Terror Drome. Have never owned one but still covet it. |
