What? I don't even know who you are anymore! It had a lot of great pieces: fans, depth charges, the motorcycle, the launchable sled, missiles?, the bay for transporting figures, the two gun ports, the command deck ... wheels for dry land, and it floated. The Rattler was very cool too, but the WHALE was both a vehicle and a playset. Paired with the tactical battle platform, they were awesome.

I'm probably just salty from trying to track down all the vital missing fan pieces for reasonable prices for my Whale, lol!

My brother had the Tactical Battle Platform, sans a few non essential pieces. That thing was awesome. Firefly used to blow it up almost every time we played with it!

I had both, and while I absolutely loved the WHALE and played with it in our backyard pool and with friends constantly, I voted for the Rattler out of nostalgic reasons. He was one of the first show-and-tell day toys I ever remember taking to school when I was in Kindergarten or 1st grade in 1984. Also, Wild Weasel is a much cooler figure than Cutter was, although I liked (still do) Cutter a lot too!

Rattler is clearly the superior toy. More durable and cooler.

WHALE's are the collector's toy of choice. Rattler is the kid's toy of choice.

WHALE (well, Action Force Hovercraft) was one of my favourite toys.

I never really got into the Joe and Cobra planes. I had a FANG and it felt too much like hard work holding that up, trying to spin the rotors and move the figures it was attacking. I didn't really see the fun in the planes.

The seas are salty, too. The TBP needed a plastic raft for the four legs to sit on so the whole thing could float. That's my only gripe.

The Rattler was very cool but Wild Weasel has never been all that wild. I did like the damaged panels that could be swapped out with undamaged panels. Cutter was made cooler by Sunbow/Marvel.
