We've got four more years to go in the ARAH line (before we switch over to vehicles)! This year marks the first year in the line in which none of the vehicles came with figures (unless you count the battle copters and I don't). I guess plastic prices were higher and Hasbro couldn't justify including figures with the vehicles? Anyway, there would only be one more year (1993) that had figures included with some vehicles before the line ended.
There are actually some really nice carded figures in this year, including one of my absolute favourites and I regret opening the two I bought, because I had stopped playing with G.I. Joe by this point and they're pretty valuable on eBay. Of course I'm talking about my pick for this poll... the Crimson Guard Immortal! 1991 hawk makes sense to be version 3, but yojoe has the “general hawk v3” listed as the green 1993 one. I think it makes sense to call the 1991 v3 though, obviously.

Yeah, just because he now has "General" in front of his name doesn't mean he's not the same guy as the previous two. I mean the Sky Patrol Airborne is considered v2 and he ISN'T the same guy.

People like to shit on the '90s Joes, but there are some really solid figures here. I debated between Crimson Guard Immortal and Desert Scorpion, and went with the latter.
The only real dud in the bunch is Grunt. What's up with that face sculpt? The whole figure looks like he was designed by Playskool, in comparison to all the other figures that year. |

I think the Crimson Guard Immortal should even be considered the v3 of the CG since he was listed as the "Crimson Guard" (no Immortal) on the backs of the cards and inside the '91 catalog.
I can't decide who to vote on here, it's a toss up between Big Ben, Cobra Commander, Dusty, the CGI or the Desert Scorpion. Even Heavy Duty, the B.A.T. and General Hawk are good figures. Grunt is the only weak figure here.

i am having difficulty choosing between dusty, big ben, and if that's jetpack hawk - jetpack hawk.
i'd imagine with these polls you'd have tossed the voice effect figures on their own poll rather than intermixed with single carded figures. that abomination cobra commander will never get a vote out of me. he's so far removed from the character. |

I'm British, so I voted Big Ben. Otherwise I'd, like, have to turn in my passport or something...

Was stuck between CGI and Ben, went with Ben because he was one of my most played with soldiers and he is more realistic and down-to-Earth than CGI.
But the Crimson Guard Immortal was also pretty wicked. I played with him a lot too.

Ended up going with v2 BAT. Heavy Duty was closely tied for second, though. As with the first BAT, the lenticular chest and swappable hand made that figure so much fun.
